          Zelma Louise Barnsfather, 91, of Pleasureville, died Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville.  She was born in Pleasureville and was the daughter of the James and Rena Bush Barnsfather.

            She is survived by a sister: Willena Coombs, Smithfield.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 18 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Jerry Anderson, Pastor of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Eloise P. Beckley

 

          Eloise P. Beckley, 68, of Turners Station, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville.  She was born in Lacie and was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Elois Purvis Payton.  She was a homemaker.

            She is survived by her husband of more than fifty years: Joe Beckley, Jr., Turners Station; one son: Troy Glenn (Tammy) Beckley, New Haven, IN; two daughters: Cindy Louise Beckley Bohannon, Eminence and Billie Jo (Matt Tackett) Beckley, Mount Eden; three brothers: Billy Ray Payton, Lloyd Coleman Payton and Maurice Dean Payton, all of New Castle; one sister: Patsy Sevier, New Castle; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 8 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Jimmy Ray Wilson, her nephew, officiated.  Burial was in the Beckley Family Cemetery.

          Christopher Booth, 33, of Pleasureville, died Monday, September 9, 2013.  He is survived by his parents: Paula (Kelley) and Claude Holmes, Pleasureville; father: Allen Booth, North Carolina; one sister: Angie Dykes, Cannelton, IN; two step-sisters: Claudette Randall, Georgetown and Mary Hunt, Frankfort and his grandparents: Leola Kelley, New Castle and Alvin and Jean Booth, Cropper.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 14, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Kenny Hardway, West Virginia, officiated, assisted by Bro. Corey Beatty, Pastor of the Drennon Christian Church.  Interment was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

Nellie Gayle Wheeler Bright

 

          Nellie Gayle Wheeler Bright, 95, of Eminence, died Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at her residence.  She was born in Defoe and was the daughter of the late Lindon and Mary Clements Wheeler.  She was a homemaker and belonged to the Defoe Christian Church.

            She is survived by two daughters: Dixie Moore, Eminence and Karen Bright, Defoe; one brother: Orem Wheeler, Georgia; three daughters-in-law: Mary Ann Bright, Eminence, Rita Bright, Eminence and Christine Bright, Defoe; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert bright, Sr.; four sons: E. J., Lynn, Tommy and Neil Bright; two brothers: Milton and Frank Wheeler and two sisters: Frances Waddell and Bessie O’Nan.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 15, at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Jerry Anderson, Pastor of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, and Rev. Doug Alexander, Pastor of the Defoe Christian Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Defoe Cemetery.

          Carlton W. Clark, 75, of Eminence, died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at his residence.  He was a native of Lexington, VA.

            He is survived by his wife: Martha Kegley Clark, Eminence and one step-son: David Kegley, Elkton, MD.

Dena Crawley

 

          Dena M. Crawley, 68, LaGrange, died September 15, 2013.  She was preceded in death by her parents; Roscoe and Margie Hawkins; one brother: Terry “Tug” Hawkins and her companion: Vernon Crawford.

            She is survived by her son: Steven Crawley; daughter: Ange (Dallis) Jackson; grandchild: Jordan Jackson and two step grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 19, at the Oldham County funeral Home, LaGrange.  Burial was in the Valley of Rest Cemetery, LaGrange.

Shirley Cross

 

          Shirley Faye Cross, 75, of Eminence, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville.  She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth Jones Wainscott.

            She is survived by her husband: Edgar “Gene” Cross, Eminence and one son: Kyle Cross, Eminence.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12 at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Carl Rucker officiated, assisted by Pastor Ben Early.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Charles Dees

 

          Charles “Chuch” Dees, 70, died Monday, October 7, 2013 at Wesley Village in Wilmore.  A native of Lockport, he was born of the late Byron and Lorine Thomas Dees.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

            He is survived by his daughters: Bobbie Jean Johnson and Bebe Collins.

            A Service of Remembrance was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 10 at Hager Funeral Home.  Burial was in the Dutch Tract Cemetery, Pleasureville.

Gregory Downey

 

          Gregory D. Downey, 57, of Lexington, formerly of New Castle, died Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the Hospice Care Center.  He was the son of Eli and Betty Sutton Downey.

            He is survived by two brothers: Michael Downey, Valdosta, GA and Jim Downey, Louisville.

            Funeral services were held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Milward-Man O’ War Funeral home.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Joseph Edrington

 

          Joseph Carol Edrington, 69, of Louisville, died at Norton Audubon Hospital, Louisville.  He was the son of the late Roy and Frances Edrington, Sr.

            He is survived by two sisters: Betty L. Hines and Julia A. Edrington, both of Louisville.

            Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15 at the Campbellsburg Cemetery.  Ransdell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Louis Farmer

 

          Thomas Louis Farmer, 72, of Eminence, died Thursday, November 14, 2013, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was born in Campbellsville and was a maintenance worker, a farmer and a member of the Crossroads Lighthouse Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Iris Farmer of Eminence; three sons: Ricky Farmer and Marvin Farmer, both of Arkansas and Robert Brewer, Eminence; one daughter: Angela Farmer, Campbellsville; one half-brother: Johnny Farmer, Campbellsville; one half-sister: Betty Jean Farmer, Campbellsville; a sister-in-law: Betty Farmer, Campbellsville; nine grandchildren and three nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas and Bessie Farmer.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. at Sunday, November 17Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Bro. Paul Harvey, Pastor of the Crossroads Lighthouse Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Virgie Ferguson

 

          Virgie Carol Ferguson, 74, died Friday, September 13, 2013, at her residence in Pleasureville.  She was a member of Southeast Christian Church, Louisville and was retired from the Kentucky Air Center.  She was preceded in death by her parents: Francis “Toots” and Daisy Gibbs Stender; two brothers: Jerry Stender and F. Glen Stender.

            She is survived by her husband of 55 years: Arnold Roy Ferguson, Pleasureville; two sons: Jerry Ferguson, Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Roy Ferguson, Shelbyville; one daughter: Genny Reigle, Pleasureville; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

            Shannon Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

          Wendall W. Frazier, 52, of New Castle, died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at his residence.  He was a U.S. Army veteran.  He was the son of Wilber “Puge” Frazier and the late Viola Abbott Frazier.

            He is survived by his wife: Lisa Lynn Frazier, New Castle; two daughters: Amanda Frazier and Christina Limones, both of New Castle; two sons: Joseph Frazier, Warsaw and Steven Frazier, New Castle; two step-daughters: Chassidy Long, New Castle and Allie Long, Eminence and one step-son: Charles “Bubba” Long, New Castle.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12, at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Daniel Lowry, Pastor of the New Castle First Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the New Castle County Cemetery on Cemetery Road.

Dean Gregory, Jr.

 

          R. Dean Gregory, Jr., 44, of Eminence, died Friday, November 8, 2013, at University of Louisville Hospital.  He was a member of the Henry County Rod and Gun Club and the Campbellsburg Apostolic Pentecostal Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Jennifer Probus Gregory, Eminence; one daughter: Laura Beth Gregory, Eminence; two sons: Rodney Fox and Joshua D. Gregory, both of Eminence; his mother: Laura Etta Johnson Gregory, Shelbyville; his father: Ronald Dean Gregory, Sr., Eminence; and one sister: Tonya Roberts, Shelbyville.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tue4sday, November 112, at the Henry Christian Church.  Rev. James Maroney, Pastor of the Campbellsburg Apostolic Pentecostal Church, officiated, assisted by Rev.           Shirley F. Holcomb, 62, of Eminence, died Friday, September 13, 2013 at her residence.  She was the daughter of the late Robert and Emma Blackaby Suter.

            She is survived by her husband: Larry Holcomb, New Castle; three sons: Larry Holcomb, Jr., Campbellsburg and Robert “Judge” Holcomb and Chris Holcomb, Eminence.

Layman Hunt

 

          Layman Allen Hunt, 62, of Anderson, TX, formerly of Henry County, died Friday, August 24, 2001 in Bryan, TX.  He was the son of the late Ercill Nicholas and Madeline Roberts Hunt, a U. S. Marine Corps Veteran, a petrophysical technologist with Schlumberger Oil, College Station, TX and a member of the Cheraw Baptist Church, South Carolina.

            He is survived by three sons: Jonathan Hunt, Indianapolis, IN, Todd Hunt, College Station, TX and Carter Hunt, Anderson, TX; one daughter: Jeanetta Carrender, New Castle, IN; two brothers: Gayle Hunt, New Castle and Ercill R. Hunt, Houston, TX; four sisters: Thelma M. Lafferre, Louisville, Lynda Jo Poynter and Nina Lou McCain, both of Bedford; and Mary Carole Hall, Campbellsburg and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 29 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Robin Roberts officiated.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Edith Hunter

 

          Edith B. Williams Hunter, 87, of Bedford, died Tuesday, July 10, 2002 at Kings Daughters Hospital, Madison, IN.  She was a native of Sulphur, the daughter of the late A. C. Roberts and Ethel Brooks Williams, a homemaker and a member of the Bedford Baptist Church.

            She is survived by two sons: Kenneth hunter, Bedford and Carroll Jacobs, Carrollton; one daughter: Betty Temple, Bedford; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

            A graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 12 at the Bedford IOOF Cemetery.

Timothy Hunter

 

          Timothy Lane Hunter, 39, of Port Royal, died Saturday, May 31, 2003 at Clementsville, Casey County, KY.  He was a member of B&M Motor Sports, a volunteer fireman with the Campbellsburg Fire Department, an employee of Steel Technologies, Warsaw and a member of the Whites Run Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Anitra Y. Batts Hunter; his parents: Chester Lee and Shirley Ellis Hunter, Port Royal; one sister: Allissha Chantelle Crawford, Port Royal; one brother: Darin Patrick Hunter, Port Royal and four nieces.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, at the Family Worship Center in Carrollton.  Rev. Pat Butcher and Rev. Ron Laughlin officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

          Mrs. Ida Holcomb Ingram, 73, died at 3:05 a.m. Wednesday at Mallory-Taylor Hospital in LaGrange.

            She is survived by one daughter: Mrs. Sterling Smithers, New Castle; one sister: Mrs. W. R. Cornett, Brooksville, IN; one brother: W. M. Holcomb, Richmond, KY and one granddaughter: Miss Martha M. Smithers, New Castle.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Prewitt Funeral Home, New Castle.  Burial was in Richmond Cemetery Thursday at 2:00 p.m.

          Roy T. Ivers, 69, of DeBary, FL died Tuesday, July 17, 2001.  He was formerly of Henry County and retired from the Louisville Gas and Electric Company.

            He is survived by one son: Roy T. Ivers, Jr., Marysville, IN; two daughters: Donna Hostetler and Bette Harbin, both of New Washington, IN; three sisters: Mary Broughton, Pleasureville, Claudia Bailey, Louisville and Nancy Wallace, DeBary, FL; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

            A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 21 at Baldauff Family Funeral Home, Orange City, FL.

            She is survived by a daughter: Kathy Terhune, Bagdad; a son: Robert K. Jackson, Pleasureville; a sister: Eloise May, Prospect; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 21 at Sholar Funeral Home.  Rev. Douglas Sturgeon, Christiansburg Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

          Katheryn M. Jackson, 74, of Milton, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  She was the daughter of the late Irvin and Florence Abbott and a homemaker.

            She is survived by her husband: William Jackson, Milton; two sons: Richard Jackson, Carrollton and Dennis Jackson, Eminence; two daughters: Brenda (Daniel) Kinman, Milton and Mary (David) Stewart, Hanover, IN; one brother: Samuel Abbott, Pendleton; one sister: Louise Spaulding, Louisville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Minnie Florence.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 25 at Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford.  Rev. Owen Dolin, Rev. David Withrow and Rev. Herb Kinman officiated.  Interment was in the Bedford IOOF Cemetery.

          Donald C. “Smoky” James, 75, of Franklin, OH, formerly of Pleasureville, died Saturday, November 10, 2001 at the Middletown Regional Hospital, Middletown, OH.  He was a native of Henry County, the son of the late Charlie and Vernon Claxton James, a U.S. Army Veteran, a retired employee of A. K. Steele Company, Middletown, OH for 32 years and a member of the Bethlehem Methodist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Audrey Powell James, Franklin, OH; two sons: Ron James, Franklin, OH and Don James, Wilmington, OH; one sister: Dorothy (Kenneth) Carter, Frankfort and three grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Garry Polston, Pastor of the New Castle United Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

John James

 

          John James, 83, of Pleasureville, died Saturday, November 156, 2013 at Regis Woods Care and Rehab Center.  He was a life-long resident of Henry County, a Korean War Veteran and a member of the Point Pleasant Christian Church.  He was a farmer and was employed for over 20 years by Brunswick Corporation in Eminence.  He was the son of the late John and Maggie Welch James.  John was preceded in death by his first wife: Helen Pfost James; his brother: Ray James and a grandson, Jeremiah.

            He is survived by his wife: Oneida Chowning James, Pleasureville; one daughter: Kim James (Greg) Jasper, Eminence; three sons: Howard Keith (Jenny) James, Ohio, Arthur Ray (Cindy) James, Louisville and Harry Lee (Michelle) James, Frankfort; one sister Betty Jane, Indiana; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 20 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. Tammie Lanham, Pastor of the Point Pleasant Christian Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Lendon Thomas “L.T.” James

 

          Lendon Thomas “L.T.” James, 86, of Campbellsburg, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  Son of the late Russell and Ella Raisor James, L.T. was a farmer and a member of the Smithfield Christian Church.  He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and a Master Mason with the Campbellsburg Chapter 249.  He was formerly employed with Brinley Hardy in Louisville and owned a grocery store in Smithfield.

            He is survived by his wife: Willie Belle Mahoney James, Campbellsburg; one daughter: Teresa Lane James, Frankfort; two sons: Barry Wayne James, Eminence and Terry Lynn (Robbie) James, Sulphur; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Janice Welch and two brothers, Philip Earl and Carroll Ray James.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 23 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Carl Rucker, Campbellsburg, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

          Nola Vivian James, 83, of Crestwood, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Meadowview Health and Rehab.  She was a member of the Crestwood Baptist Church.

            She is survived by her children: Steve (Beth) James, Jonathan (Margaret) James, and Raylene (Philip) Blair; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters: Glenna (Nick) Coleman and Alma Chisholm.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray James, sisters, Zeffie Roberts, Lorene Hall, Virgie James and brothers, Marvin, Orvil, Kenneth and Everett James.

            Funeral services were held Thursday, July 4 at Stoess Funeral Home, Cerestwood.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

          Philip E. James, 81, of Campbellsburg, died Friday, May 14, 2004 at Homestead Nursing Center in New Castle.  He was a retired employee of International Harvester for 27 years, a member of the Campbellsburg United Methodist Church, the son of the late Russell and Ella Raisor James. 

            He is survived by his daughter: Charlotte (Larry) Mitchell, Lexington; caretaker and close friend: Robbie James, Sulphur;  brother: L. T. James, Campbellsburg; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 16 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Carl Rucker, Pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

          Maudie Abrams Jeffries, 72, of Waddy, formerly of Bedford, died Thursday, July 4, 2002 at Hospice of Louisville.  She was a native of Henry County, the daughter of the late Joe and Lillie Mae Lawson Abrams, a homemaker and a member of the New Life Baptist Church, Waddy.

            She is survived by one brother: Bill Glaser, Frankfort; and three adopted Sisters: Vonda Stewart, Turners Station, Charlene Beagle, Shelbyville and Jo Enlow, Little Rock, AR.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Covington.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 8, at the New Life Baptist Church, Waddy.  Bro. Bill Brumley officiated.  Interment was in the Bagdad Cemetery.  Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford was in charge of arrangements.

            He is survived by two daughters: Brenda McAlister, Shelbyville and Helen Jennings, West Reading, PA; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

          Rosia Moore Jennings, 94, of Bethlehem, died Thursday, January 8, 2004 at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was the daughter of the late Sam and Maggie Pettit Moore, a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

            She is survived by one daughter: Stella Winters, Pleasureville; three sons: Ed Jennings, Sam Jennings and Wilbur Winters, all of Eminence; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Jennings and a son, James Jennings.

            Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 11 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Wayne Kelly, Lockport Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

Johnson, Jr., 79, of Crestwood, formerly of Eminence, died Sunday, May 4, 2003 at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  He was a native of Shelby County, the son of the late Andrew W. and Nellie Buckman Johnson, Sr. a retired Eminence Elementary School Principal, a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge #140 and a member of the Eminence Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Margaret Wells Johnson, Crestwood; one son: Gayle W. Johnson, LaGrange; two sisters: Martha (Elmo) Clubb, Louisville and Mary Jane (Joe) Driesler, Bartow, FL; two brothers: Robert Johnson, Crestwood and James B. Johnson, Hilton Head, SC; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Laura Johnson

 

            Laura Mae Johnson, 80, of Pleasureville, died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville.  She was the daughter of the late Mose and Carrie Licille Scott Henderson, a member of the Household of Ruth Lodge #1513 and a member of the Main Street Baptist Church, New Castle.

            She is survived by her husband: Robert H. Johnson, Pleasureville and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a son, Robbie Dale Johnson.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at the Main Street Baptist Church.  Rev. Meredith Trabue officiated.  Burial was in the G.U.O.F. Cemetery, New Castle.

Lillie Johnson

 

          Lillie Mae Johnson, 86, of New Castle, died Sunday, January 27, 2002 at Bay Medical Center, Panama City, FL.  She was the daughter of the late Loyd and Clarisa Bell Roberts, a retired nurses aide and a member of Christ Open Door Church.

            She is survived by two daughters: Willanna (Ralph) Bland, Sr., Louisville and Betty (Bob) Newsom, Panama City beach, FL; two sisters: Aline Burnett, Campbellsburg and Viola (Kenneth) Adams, Lexington; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Garner Johnson and one son, Calvin Johnson.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Sister Linda Morgan, Pastor of Christ Open Door Church, Pendleton, officiated, assisted by Rev. Dennis Burrows, associate pastor of Southern Hills United Methodist Church, Lexington.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Melvie Johnson

 

          Melvie M. Johnson, 70, of Lexington, died Monday, April 5, 2004, at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.  She was a native of Johnson County, the daughter of Bruce and Ethel Burchett LeMaster, an employee of K-Mart for 28 years and a member of the Man-O-War Church of God, Lexington.

            She is survived by two daughters: Carma Jean (Lannie) Anderson, Glasgow and Vickie Cameron, Eminence; two sons: Wayne LeMaster, Campbellsburg and James McAlpin, Lexington; ten sisters: Loretta (Carl) Blankenship, Lawrenceburg, Christeen Vance, Ezel, Della Herndon, Lexington, Ella Stacey, Middletown, OH, Faye (Phillip) Swift, Irvington, Nila (Lonnie) Seegert, Wauseon, OH, Debra (Robert) Davis, Miamisburg, OH, Leonora (Samuel) Russell, Smithfield, Lola (Ronald) Horseman and Shelia (Danny) Meadows, both of Eminence; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1o, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Ralph Johnson

 

          Ralph Gilbert Johnson, 62, of Pendleton, died Monday, December 23, 2002 at his home.  He was the son of the late Victor Johnson and a member of the Bedford Springs Church.

            He is survived by his mother: Mildred Beard Johnson; one step-daughter: Robin Combs, Bedford; two brothers: Harold Johnson, Campbellsburg and Larry Johnson, Louisville; one sister: Barbara Thomas, LaGrange and two step-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 28 at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Burial was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Robert Johnson

 

          Robert Daniel Johnson, 44, of Pleasureville, formerly of Shelbyville, died suddenly Monday, May 12, 2003 at his residence.  He was a native of Mobile, AL, the son of the late Dewey Lee Johnson; a construction worker and a member of the Calvary Temple Apostolic Church.

            He is survived by two sons: Daniel D. Johnson and Joshua A. Johnson, both of Paoli, IN; his mother: Betty Snook, Pleasureville and one sister: Diane (Rick) Wallace, Sulphur.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 16 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Lonnie Hardin, Pastor of the New Life Community Church, LaGrange, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

William M. “Bill” Johnson

 

          William M. “Bill” Johnson, 81, of Shelbyville, formerly of Pleasureville, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, in Shelbyville.  He was born in Louisville and was the son of the late Rexford and Arthur Pearl Willhite Johnson.  He was a truck driver for Local 89.

            He is survived by his wife: Annie M. Walker Johnson, Shelbyville; two sons: William M. Johnson, Jr., New Albany, IN and Arthur Wayne (Debbie) Johnson, Louisville; five daughters: Brenda Sue Jenkins, New Albany, IN, Linda Ruth Bolin, Louisville, Shirley Jean (J. D.) Dake, Indianapolis, IN, Janet Lee (Jack) Newman, Tamarac, FL and Debra Ann Golden, Eminence; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Todd Sprouse officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Billy Jones

 

          Billy A. Jones, 83, of LaGrange, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center, Louisville.  He was the son of the late Felix and Ondine Albritton Jones.  Billy retired from Bellsouth.  He was a member of the Covenant United Methodist Church, LaGrange.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Jones.

            He is survived by his wife: Jackie Vaughn Jones, LaGrange; one daughter: Cindy Jones (Chuck) Norton, Campbellsburg; one son: Raymond Darrel (Judy) Jones, Signal Mountain, TN; four grand children; four great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

            Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3 at Covenant United Methodist Church, LaGrange.  Rev. Mike Lehan officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

          Cecile Jones, 88, of Campbellsburg, died Saturday, January 19, 2002 at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.  She was a native of Henry County, the daughter of the late Othello and Mary Fox Jones, a maid at J. C. Penny, a member of the House of Ruth and the Campbellsburg Second Baptist Church.

            She is survived by one daughter: Lylia Barbour, Crestwood; one son: Harvey Jones, Columbus, OH; eighteen grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 23 at the Campbellsburg Second Baptist Church.  Rev. Earl B. Higgins officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle GUOOF Cemetery.

          Daisy Jenkins Jones, 89, of Campbellsburg, died July 1, 1970 at 5:00 a.m. at her residence. 

            She is survived by one daughter: Mrs. Warren Jones, Campbellsburg; two granddaughters and six great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from Prewitt’s, New Castle.

Rev. Clyde Leeds, Pastor of the Point Pleasant Christian Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Jenkins Burial Ground.

            Daniel P. Jones, 80, of Turners Station, died Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Baptist Hospital in LaGrange.  He was the son of the late Paul and Lillie Mae Mahoney Jones.

            He is survived by his wife: Joyce Ashcraft Jones, Turners Station; two daughters: Gloria Hammonds, Hazard and Rebecca Mahoney, Turners Station; and one son: Edward Jones, Turners Station.

          Dorothy Lindsey Jones, 76, of Smithfield, died Friday, October 17, 2013 at the Baptist Health Care in LaGrange.  She was the daughter of the late Clella Mae O’Nan and Claude Alvin Lindsey, Sr.

            She is survived by two daughters: Connie Alley Back, Louisville and Janice Marie Thomas, Hardinsburg and four sons: Claude Allen Jones, Louisville, Louis Jones, Smithfield, Joe Jones, Sulphur and Steve Jones, Eminence.

            Dorothy was cremated.  Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

          Dorothy Suter Jones, 92, of Turners Station, died Monday, April 28, 2003 at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  She was a native of Shelby County, the daughter of the late G. B. and Willie Ridgeway Suter, and a member of the Turners Station Baptist Church.

            She is survived by a daughter: Margie (Harry) Leathermen, Turners Station; five grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, S. K. Jones, a son, George LaMar Jones and one grandson.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 2 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Carl Rucker, Pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Ron Laughlin, Pastor of the Port Royal United Methodist Church.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

          Gladys Wallace Jones, 99, of Taylorsville, formerly of Pleasureville, died Friday, February 14, 2003 at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.  She was the daughter of the late Otis and Mary Jane James Wallace, a homemaker and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Gratz.

            She is survived by one daughter: Gayle Wheeler Thomas, Arkansas; two sons: Wallace Wheeler, Taylorsville and Everett Jones, Pleasureville; one sister: Judith LaMunyon, Frankfort; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 17, at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Lin Powell officiated, assisted by Charles LeCompte and Scott Shafer.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

          John Paul Jones, 87, of Toledo, OH died Sunday, March 2, 2003 in the Bedford Elderly Care Center.  He was a native of New Castle, the son of the late John T. and Hattie L. Cravens Jones, a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church.

            He is survived by two sons: John Paul Jones, Jr. and Gary M. Jones; three sisters: Jessica Burton, Sylvia Lofton and Helen Adams; one brother: Kenneth Jones; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 4, 2003 in the Ansberg-West Mortuary, Toledo.  Interment was in the Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
