John S. Brannin, 73, died Monday, morning in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A native of New Castle, he had lived in Fort Lauderdale for 10 years. He was manager of the Hadlin Hotel in Cincinnati at the outbreak of World War I, when he entered the Army. After his discharge he was at the Seelbach (now the Sheraton) for about 3 years. He left Louisville to manage the McAlpin Hotel in New York. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Kittie Brannin, and a sister, Mrs. George Pickett, Shelbyville. Mrs. Price Batts, New Castle, is her niece. The funeral and burial will be in Fort Lauderdale. Henry County Local November 17, 1960 Mrs. Martha Brannin Pickett, 86, widow of George L. Pickett, Shelbyville attorney, died at 1:45 p.m. Sunday at the King's Daughters Hospital. Mrs. Pickett was born in Henry County and was the daughter of the late Daniel P. and Sallie J. Pryor Brannin, members of prominent families. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and ever faithful to its tenets and beliefs. Interested in all civic affairs, Mrs. Pickett was especially loyal to the King's Daughters Hospital and worked faithfully for it for many years. She was also interested in politics and world affairs. Mrs. Picket lived her entire life for her family and her many friends. Faithful and true to her every task, she will be remembered by people in all walks of life for her kindness, her gererosity and love for others. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Alice P. Broadbent, Shelbyville; two grandsons, George Pickett Broadbent, Indianapolis and Richard F. Broadbent III, Louisville; two great- grandchildren, Martha H. Broadbent and Richard F. Broadbent IV. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday from Shannon Funeral Home by Rev. Fred T. Moffatt. Interment followed in Grove Hill Cemetery. Source unknown and undated. Mrs. Edith E. Breeden, 84 of Route 1, Campbellsburg, died Friday, March 18 at her residence. She was a native of Owen County; formerly of Middletown, Kentucky; retired cook at Middletown Dairy Bar; and a member of the Middletown Christian Church. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Mefford, LaGrange, Mrs. Robert (Alberta) Graves, Worthville and Mrs. Tommy (Claudene) Tingle, Route 1, Campbellsburg; one son, William Dallas Bolling, Junction City, Kentucky; one sister, Mrs. Harold (Gertrude) Mefford, Worthville, Kentucky; 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20th from Prewitt Funeral Home, New Castle. Dr. Clayton Klingenfus, pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, officiated. Interment was in the Worthville Cemetery in Carroll County. Henry County Local March 24, 1983 Cecil E. Breeding, age 69, of Mount Eden, died Sunday, April 3, 2005 at his residence. He was a farmer, former member of the Mt. Eden Fire Department, member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, and the son of the late Cecil Herbert and Ida Mae Cheatham Breeding. He is survived by his wife, Barbara McAllister Breeding, Mt. Eden; three daughters: Teresa Breeding and Cathy Carter, both of Mt. Eden; Belinda Casey, Bagdad; one son, Keith Breeding, Smithfield; three brothers: Homer Breeding, Leitchfield; Elwood Breeding and Eugene Breeding, both of Springfield; three sisters: Waunita McMichael, Springfield; Beulah Coulter, Bardstown; Effie Simpson, Harrodsburg; 17 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, Richard and Cecilia Breeding and two sisters. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Bethlehem Baptist Church of Taylorsville. Rev. Eddie Nation and Rev. Greg Taylor will officiate. Interment will be in the Best Cemetery, Anderson County. Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements. Henry County Local April 6, 2005 Eva Joyce Emery Brent, age 64, of 308 Ute Trail, Frankfort, beloved wife of 42 of James Donald Brent, died October 30, 2005, at the Hospice Center at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky. Mrs. Brent was born December 24, 1940 in McClain County, Kentucky. She attended Western Kentucky University where she was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Sorority. She later graduated from Kentucky State University where she received her Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts. Mrs. Brent was also a Kentucky Colonel. She retired from state government after 25 years of service. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church of Frankfort, Kentucky. Survivors, besides her husband, are two daughters, Traci Elizabeth (Patrick, Jr.) Hayden, Lexington, and Laura Barrington Brent, Columbia, South Carolina; two step-grandchildren, Christopher Patrick Hayden and Kathleen Elisabeth Hayden of Lexington. Other survivors are Edwin and Lana McGray, Lisa McGray Ladd, Daniel McGray, Robbie Lou McGray Key all of Madisonville and many other nieces and nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be held at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg on Wednesday, November 2 (today) from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Memorial graveside services will be held immediately following at the Masonic Cemetery, Campbellsburg, with Father Patrick Stewart officiating. Henry County Local November 2, 2005 Mr. J. W. Brent, age 84, of Campbellsburg died Saturday, November 5, 1994 at Tri-County Baptist Hospital. He was retired from the ASCS Office. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy brewer, Campbellsburg; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lillian. Services were at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 7 at Campbellsburg United Methodist Church. Rev. Brad Klassen officiated. Interment was in the Campbellsburg Masonic Cemetery. Henry County Local November 9, 1994 Mary T. Staten Brent was born in Trimble County, Kentucky, September 22, 1841. She was united in marriage about 67 years ago to James M. Brent. Two children, Thomas and Elizabeth Brent and several grandchildren are left to mourn her loss. She united with the Christian Church early in life and faithfully attended the services of that church at Campbellsburg until within the last few years of her earthly life. Mrs. Brent was a good woman loved by all her neighbors and was always glad to see us when we visited in her home. The funeral service was conducted at her late home, Wednesday, January 11, 1928 and interment took place in the Campbellsburg Cemetery. Henry County Local January 20, 1928 Mrs. Minnie Caplinger Brent, 80, died Wednesday, January 5, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Grace Kluth of Louisville. Besides her daughter, she is survived by a son, Arthur Brent, Louisville and a brother, Will Caplinger, of Alabama. Funeral services were conducted at 2p.m., Friday, at the Campbellsburg Christian Church with Rev. Roy Fields, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Campbellsburg Cemetery. Henry County Local January 14, 1949 Mrs. W. C. Brent, 67, Campbellsburg, died at noon Wednesday, January 18, at King's Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville. She was the daughter of the late David and Inez Pyles of Trimble County. She is survived by her husband, W. C. Brent; two daughters, Mrs. Erby McManis, Campbellsburg, and Mrs. Willana Lawrence, Fairborne, Ohio; four sons, Eugene of Carrollton; Roscoe, William and Charles Brent of Campbellsburg; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Campbellsburg Baptist Church. Interment was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery at Campbellsburg. Henry County Local January 27, 1956 Mrs. Betty Ann Nutter Brewer, age 57, of Pleasureville died Sunday, March 12, 1995 at University Hospital, Louisville. She was a native of Georgetown, a member of the Pleasureville United Methodist Church, a school teacher at Eastern Elementary and a member of Rebekah Lodge #16. She is survived by her husband, William S. Brewer, Pleasureville; her father, John T. Nutter, Eminence; tow sons: John Steven Brewer and Perry Scott Brewer, Pleasureville; one daughter, Lisa Ann Brewer, Pleasureville; one brother, Ben E. Nutter, Shelby County; two nephews and one niece. Services will be at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, March 15) at Pleasureville United Methodist Church. Rev. Van Firestine will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasureville Cemetery. Sholar Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Henry County Local March 15, 1995 Mrs. Faye Aline Brewer, 56 of Eminence, died Thursday, February 4th at the King's Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville, after an illness. She was an employee of Eminence Speaker Corp. and a member of the Eminence Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Leonard S. Brewer, Eminence; five daughters, Mrs. Sam (Patsy) Jennings, Mrs. Emma Jackson, Mrs. Jack ( Shirley) Coons, all of Eminence, Mrs. Charles (Marilyn) Lyons, Bethlehem and Mrs. Tim (Dorothy) Casey, Eminence; one son, Paul Brewer, Eminence; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jim (Geneva) Cinnamond, Frankfort and Mrs. Mary Reinhardt, Coppell, Texas; three brothers, Ben Birch, New Castle, J. Henry County Local February 11, 1982 Mr. Hubert Brewer, 73, of Pleasureville, died Tuesday, December 10 at the King's Daughters Memorial Hospital, Frankfort. He is survived by three sons, James H. Brewer, Shelbyville, Gary Brewer, Pleasureville, and Glenn Brewer, Shelbyville; two daughters, Mrs. Marvalene Lay, Middletown, and Mrs. Betty Ann Paris, Pleasureville; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Linda Tingle, Eminence, and Joyce Parker, Frankfort; one Stepson, Robert Allen Vest, Nashville, Tennessee; eight step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ray Brewer, Bagdad and Julian and Lucian Brewer, both of Defoe. Henry County Local December 12, 1985 Mr. John Doyle Brewer, age 78 of Pleasureville, died Tuesday, July 2, 1991 at the United Medical Center in Shelbyville. He was a farmer and belonged to the Pleasureville Cayuga 100F Lodge. Survivors include his son , William S. Brewer, Pleasureville; 3 grandchildren, 1 niece and 1 nephew. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 4, 1991 at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Van Firestine officiating. Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery. Henry County Local July 10, 1991 Juanita Tingle Brewer, age 71, of New Castle died Sunday, April 1, 2001 at her residence after a long illness. She was a native of Campbellsburg, the daughter of the late Fred and Pauline Tingle Boyer, a retired clerk at Tri-County Community Action Agency and a member of the New Castle United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons: Dr. Allan Brewer, Big Spring, Texas; and Dr. Stephen Brewer, Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Wilma Jean Wood, Pleasureville; four brothers: Fred Tingle, New Castle; Jimmy Boyer, Detroit, Michigan; Bo Robert Boyer, Bedford; and Jody Boyer, Campbellsburg; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene W. Brewer. Funeral Services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. Brewer, 61 of Eminence, died Tuesday, February 1st at the King's Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville, after an illness. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Eminence Baptist Church. He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Sam (Patsy) Jennings, Mrs. Emma Jackson, Mrs. Jack (Shirley) Coons, all of Eminence; Mrs. Charles (Marilyn) Lyons Bethlehem and Mrs. Dorothy Brewer Casey, Eminence; one son, Paul Brewer, Eminence; seven sisters, Mrs. Rener Hutchison, Frankfort, Mrs. Shirley Bramblett, Gestville, Mrs. Lawson (V. Henry County Local February 10, 1983 Mrs. Ruth Dawkins Brewer, 84 of Campbellsburg died Wednesday, May 31 at the Homestead Nursing Center in New Castle. She was a housewife and a member of the Turners Station Christian Church. Survivors are three sons, Harold Brewer, LaGrange, Robert Brewer, Louisville and Merle Brewer, Campbellsburg; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services were held Friday, June 2 at 2 p.m. at the Barnett-Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg with Rev. Carl Rucker, pastor of the Campbellsburg Christian Church, officiating. Henry County Local June 8, 1978 Mr. Winford Brewer, Sr., 62, of Eminence, died suddenly Friday, December 13 at the King's Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville. He was a native of Franklin County and a farmer. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Iris Boswell Brewer, Route 2, Eminence; four daughters, Mrs. Waldo (Nancy) Simpson, Route 2, Pleasureville, Mrs. Danny (Elizabeth) Stivers, New Castle, Miss Darlene Brewer, Eminence, and Miss Miss Pam Banta, Pleasureville; two sons, Winford H. She was the daughter of the late Luke D. and Mary Frances Highlander Brierly, attended Shelbyville Community Church and was formerly a member of the Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church. She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Herman (Louise) Cox, Christiansburg; Frances Brown, Shelbyville; Mrs. John (Myra) Raisor, Pendleton; Mrs. James (Polly) Parks, Campbellsburg; six sons: Alvin Brierly, Milton; Robert Brierly, Turners Station; Lloyd Brierly, Carlisle; Phillip Brierly, Smithfield; Ronald Brierly, Danville, Indiana; Jeffrey Brierly, Pleasureville; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Rachael) Mosher, Milton; one brother, James Brierly, Madison, Indiana; 27 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren. Brierly, 90, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, died Thursday, February 9, 2006 in Floyds Knobs. She was the daughter of the late John Ball and Margaret Sandage and a nurse's aid at Central State Hospital. She is survived by three sons: Herbert Landers, Love's Park, Illinois; Alfred Sturgeon, Bathe, Maine; Forest Brierly, Floyds Knobs; two daughters: Maurice (Anna) Hawkins, Port Royal, Mrs. Walter (Inez) Wolfe, Floyds Knobs; a brother, George H. Ball, Tell City, Indiana; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bessie Rison, and a son, William J. Sturgeon. Funeral services were held at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home in LaGrange with the Rev. David Woosley officiating. Interment was in the Valley of Rest Cemetery. Henry County Local February 22, 2006 David G. Bright, age 55 of Campbellsburg died Sunday, July 18, 2005 at his residence. He was born in Shelby County to the late G. W. Bright and Hazel Miller Bright. He was a police officer for many years. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pam Bright and two children: Kelli Nelson and he husband Steve, and Rodney bright, all of Campbellsburg; two brothers: Taylor Bright, Virginia and Mike Bright, Pleasureville; one sister, Becky Smith, LaGrange; three grandchildren: Blake Nelson, Jordan Bright and Zachary Nelson. Services will be today (Wednesday, July 20) at 10 a.m. at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg. Rev. Doug Boyd and Rev. Shane Nickell will officiate. Interment will be in the Campbellsburg Masonic Cemetery. Henry County Local July 20, 2005 Mrs. Martha T. Bright, age 91, of Eminence died Saturday, January 3, 1993 at the Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. She was a native of El Paso, Texas and a member of the Eminence Christian Church. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Stephens, Cocoa, Florida. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 10 at the Prewitt Funeral Home, Eminence. Officiating will be Rev. Tom Page, pastor of the Eminence Christian Church. Interment will be in the Eminence Cemetery. Henry County Local January 6, 1993 Henry Bright, retired farmer of Campbellsburg died at his home Monday night from the effects of a stroke of paralysis suffered the latter part of last week. Funeral services were conducted at the home by the Rev. Corbin Adcock, pastor of the Campbellsburg Christian Church with burial in the Campbellsburg Cemetery. Nr, Bright is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fanny Bright, two daughters, Miss Ethel Bright and Mrs. D. Brown and two sisters, Mrs. Susie Meadows and Miss Sarah Bright all of Campbellsburg. Henry County Local April 6, 1928 Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bright, 86 of Pleasureville, died Friday, March 11 at the Franklin Manor Nursing Home, Frankfort. She is survived by one foster daughter, Aline Browning, Pleasureville; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Victoria Poe, Shelbyville, Mrs. Sally Stivers and Mrs. Linda Jennings, both of Frankfort and Mrs. Pauline Nation, Southville; one stepson, Franklin Bright, Defoe; 26 step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 13th at the Thomas Funeral Home, Pleasureville. Rev. Tim Browning, pastor of Defoe Christian Church, officiated. Henry County Local April 4, 1985 Deloris R."Patty" Briley, age 87, of Campbellsburg, died Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Bedford Health Care. She was the daughter of the late James and Oshia Simpson Newby. She is survived by niece, Mrs. Clifford (Billie Jane) Scobee, Danville, Indiana; two sisters, Rachell Powell, Bedford; Martha Hawkins, Pittsboro, Indiana; one brother, William F. "Bill" Newby, Breensburg, Indiana; great niece, Mrs. Matthew (Jennie0 Adams, Brownsburg, Indiana; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Roberts and her second husband, Henry Briley. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 31 at Campbellsburg Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 9255 Main Street, Campbellsburg. Rev. Henry County Local March 30, 2005 Leo Klarer Broecker, 70 of Louisville, retired Chairman of the Board of the Klarer Meat Processing Firm, died Saturday at the Highland Baptist Hospital, Louisville. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lynne Tucker, wife of Thomas Tucker, local manager of South Central Bell Telephone Company Henry County Local July 19, 1979 Mr. Isaac (Ike) Brooks, 92, of Sulphur, died Saturday, October 12 at the King's Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville. He had resided at his granddaughter's, Mrs. Nellie McCane of Sulphur, for several years. He was formerly from Indianapolis, Indiana; a retired employee of the Independent Pipe Company of Indianapolis; and a retired farmer. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mamie Anderson, Indianapolis; three sons, Bill Brooks, Indianapolis, Isaac N. Brooks, Bluefield, Virginia, and Harold (Sonny) Brooks, Campbellsburg; two grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 14 from Prewitt's, New Castle. Rev. Carl Rucker, pastor of the Campbellsburg Christian Church officiated. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Bedford. Henry County Local October 16, 1985 Mrs. Mattie Brophy, 87, died at 11:55 a.m., Thursday, April 7, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marion Robinson, near New Castle, Following an extended illness. Besides her daughter with whom she made her home, she is survived by a son, Jesse Brophy, Frankfort, twenty grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at Shannon & Ricketts Funeral Home in New Castle at 2 p.m., Friday, with Rev. O. L. Walker officiating. Burial was in the New Castle Cemetery. He was a prominent Henry County farmer; a member of Masonic Lodge, a life-time member of the Kentucky Dairy Association and the Brown Swiss Breeders Association, and a charter member of the Henry County Historical Society. Henry County Local February 21, 1985 The remains of Clell Brown were brought here for interment last Wednesday. The funeral was preached by Rev. Boswell, pastor of the New Castle Methodist Church, that being his faith. Mr. Brown was sick only a short time from pneumonia and his death was quite a shock. He was twice married. His last wife who was Miss Mayme Cravens survives as does several children by his first marriage and several grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Brown made their home with Mrs. Cravens since her husband died, a very amicable arrangement and we sympathize with all as he is a man who will be greatly missed in the home and community. His genial, cheerful disposition won him friends everywhere. Henry County Local February 3, 1928 Miss Grace Brown, 67, of LaGrange, died at 6:05 a.m. Saturday at Mallory-Taylor Hospital in that city. She was a native of LaGrange, and had been a licensed practical nurse at Mallory-Taylor Hospital for 30 years until retiring several years ago. She was a member of LaGrange United Methodist Church and the Oldham County Historical Society. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. A. C. Graham, LaGrange, and two brothers, William J. She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Bobby (Patty) Ethington and Mrs. Ricky (Karen) Wood, both of Shelbyville; one son, Michael Warren Bryant, Shelbyville; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Warren Bryant. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14 at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Rev. Edward Coleman and Rev.
