John O. Jackson died at the residence of W. P. Jones near Ballinger, Texas, where he had gone a few days ago, thinking that perhaps the climate would restore his health. John O., as he was familiarly called, was born in Carroll County, July 25, 1853; so he was a little over 57 years old at the time of his death. He spent all his life in Carroll County, until about five years ago, when he moved to Henry County and bought a farm near Campbellsburg. It was the happy privilege of the writer to know John O. Jackson all his life, and to know him was to admire him, for the manly qualities he possessed. He was born with a genial, happy disposition, and made it pleasant for all who passed his way. He loved to entertain his friends, and many a happy hour has the writer spent at his home. Surely his life proved that he was the true type of manhood and surely the wqorld has been made better by him having lived in it.
His old friend W. P. Jones arrived with his remains at Campbellsburg on the morning train Friday, the 13th and at one oclock, p.m., after a short service at the grave by Rev. W. R. Johnson of the Methodist Church, his body was laid to rest in the Masonic Cemetery, there to await the resurrection morn. W. L. Vories, M. D.

On Friday, April 24, 1914, at 6:15 in the evening, the gentle spirit of Mrs. Anna E. Johnston, beloved wife of Capt. I. N. Johnston, of Pleasureville, was separated from her body to assume its place among the spirits of the just made perfect. Ten weeks before her death paralysis suddenly destroyed her power of speech. She continued to go about but was never entirely well afterward. A second stroke came two weeks before the end of her life, that affected the entire right side. She gradually sank then until the hour named above when nature yielded.
Mrs. Johnston was a native of Shelby County, and was a member of an old and honorable family, her maiden name having been Anna Eliza Nash. Had she lived till next October she would have been 72 years old. On the 22nd of March 1864, she was united in marriage to Captain I. N. Johnston, a returned soldier in the cause of the Union. Last March, there was a celebration of the fiftieth wedding anniversary at the Johnston home, with all the children present, and a happy event it was, for the married life of Captain and Mrs. Johnston has been one of much felicity.
On Sunday afternoon April 26, the funeral took place from the Baptist Church in Pleasureville. The discourse was by Rev. Dr. George B. Eager, of Louisville. Rev. J. W. Gardner, the local Methodist minister, offered prayer at the funeral. At four oclock, the sun shining, the body was laid to rest in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

He is survived by six children: Mrs. Mattie Kephart, Mrs. W. S. Riner and Joe E. Johnston, Pleasureville, Mrs. J. S. Price, Nicholasville, Mrs. Nora Sibley, Sulphur and Mrs. B. G. Pearce, New Castle.

The services were under the direction of the pastor, Rev. James E. Wright. Rev. P. C. Long of Eminence offered a beautiful prayer. The sermon was preached by the Rev. Price Smith, Versailles, a former pastor, much beloved by Captain Johnston and who had unburdened to Rev. Smith many of the deep and solemn questions of his heart and soul, for on many occasions he visited the parsonage to discuss these things.
He was laid to rest in the Pleasureville Cemetery where prayer was offered by Rev. John Cunningham of the Baptist Church and the last act was the removal of the flag from the casket by his old comrade Mr. Heilman.
