William Marion and Bailey Hall, young married men, both citizens of Henry County, lost their lives in the lead mine near Gratz, Wednesday, September 16, 1914, at noon by an explosion in the mine. The character of the explosion is not known to the writer, but it was probably a dust explosion. They had accepted employment at the mine only a few days before, we hear, and were working 500 feet below the surface. The hosue or shed over the mouth of the mine was burned, but whether it caught from the flames below, or caught fire in some other way and set off the gas or dust in the depths of the mine by dropping coals therein, cannot be stated with certainty. In fact, both hypotheses may be wrong.
Mr. Marion was a son of Clem Marion, of near Lockport, but living at Gratz. He is survived by a wife and four children.
The burial of Mr. Marion takes place at Gratz today. The interment of Mr. Hall will take place at Grub Ridge, tomorrow morning, Saturday.

Mrs. Margaret White Masterson entered into rest at her home in Carrollton Monday at twelve oclock. She was in her eighty-fifth year, and was the widow of Judge Richard W. Masterson, who died a few years ago. For a number of years the Masterson family lived in New Castle, where they acquired many friends. Mrs. Masterson had been ailing for some months, but was stricken with cerebral hemorrhage about ten days before her death, and was practically unconscious for about a week before the end. The life of this good woman is certainly not arrested by the grave, and her virtues live in the memory of those who loved and knew her. Her lovely Christian spirit shone in her face; her life was a benediction to those about her.
Three children are left: W. W. Masterson, Consul at Harput, Turkey, who will receive the sad news in that far off country; Mrs. A. C. Adkinson and Miss Harriet Masterson, both of Carrollton. Funeral services were held at the house and the body was laid to rest in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
