Dalton Meadows

 

Dalton “Hambone” Meadows, 82, (June 8, 1896 – June 3, 1979) of Port Royal, died at 2:10 a.m., at the VA Hospital, Louisville of a long illness.  He was an Army Veteran of WWI, a retired farmer and a member of the Port Royal Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Ora Lee Foree Meadows, Port Royal.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 5th from Prewitt’s, New Castle.  Dev. Dixon Sutherland, pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Iverson Meadows

 

Mr. Iverson Meadows died at the home of H. C. Bevarly, near Campbellsburg, Wednesday at 7:20 p.m., aged 83 years, 3 months and 11 days (October 9, 1820 – January 20, 1904).  Death was due to a stroke of paralysis which came two weeks before.  Thus passed away an honest, kind-hearted and clever man.

 

Mr. Meadows was born in Virginia, October 9, 1820, but had lived in this section of Kentucky since he was a small boy, most of the time in Carroll County.  He was a farmer, a life-long Democrat, a member of the Baptist Church for many years, a plain and sincere man.

 

His wife, who was Miss Massa J. Ewing, died in 1892.  They had no children, but they raised Mrs. Bevarly from childhood and she was to them a child.

 

James Meadows, Pleasureville, is a brother of the deceased and Mrs. Susan Batts, Port Royal, is his sister.  Gabe Meadows is a half-brother and Mrs. Fannie Chilton and Mrs. Sallie Jones are half-sisters, the latter living in Indiana.

 

The remains of Mr. Meadows will be buried at Port Royal, after services in the Baptist Church there at 11 a.m.  The funeral will be preached by Rev. L. S. Chilton.

Ricky Meadows

 

Ricky (Stretch) Meadows, 23, Ghent, Kentucky, died suddenly November 4, 1984, at the King’s Daughters Hospital, Madison, IN.

 

He is survived by one daughter: Nickie Meadows, Carrollton; his mother: Elizabeth Meadows Deus; his step-father: Bobby Deus, Ghent; one sister: Diane Burgess, Carrollton; five brothers: Raymond Meadows, Port Royal, John Mike Meadows, Hanover, IN, Joey Meadows, Carrollton, Carroll Allen Meadows, Carrollton and William Meadows, Ghent; four step-brothers: Kenneth Deus, Rising Sun, IN, Ray Deus, Owenton, Bobby Deus, Ghent and Harold Deus, Ghent; one step-sister: Margie Abplandpa, Rising Sun, IN and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Meadows.

 

 

Clarence Meek

 

Clarence Strother Meek, 59, (November 24, 1892 – October 16, 1952) Smithfield, was found dead about 10a.m. Thursday.  Deputy Coroner Ralph Willhite pronounced the death a suicide and blamed ill heath.

 

He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Mary Emily Price Meek; one son: Clarence Price Meek, Smithfield; four sisters: Mrs. Della Douglas, LaGrange, Mrs. Nannie Barker, San Antonio, TX, Mrs. Flora Scherbaur and Mrs. Don Caster, both of Dayton, OH; two brothers: Bryan Meek and George Meek, both of Smithfield.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the grave in the Smithfield Cemetery.  Rev. George Perger, pastor of the Smithfield Methodist Church, officiated.

Margaret Meek

 

Mrs. Margaret M. Meek, age 92, of Smithfield, died Sunday, February 18, 1990 at the Friendship Manor Home, Pewee Valley.  She was a member of the Smithfield Christian Church.

 

She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Louise Wilson, Smithfield and Mrs. Maurice (Ruth) Clark, Route 1, Smithfield; one son: William S. Meek, Buffalo, NY; one sister: Mrs. Maude Byers, Pleasureville; one brother: Mr. Jesse H. Morgan, Smithfield; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 21st at the Prewitt Funeral Home, Eminence.  Rev. Connie Perry, pastor of the Smithfield Christian Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Jean Edge, Lexington.  Interment was in the Smithfield Cemetery.

L. J. Mefford

 

Mr. Lafe James (L. J.) Mefford, age 65, formerly of Henry County, died Wednesday, September 18, 1991 in McHenry, IL.

 

He is survived by one brother: Mr. Lester (Peck) Mefford, St. Petersburg, FL, five sisters: Mrs. Eugene (Mona) Brannan, St. Petersburg, Mrs. James (Lillian) Henderson, Pleasureville, Mrs. Joyce McNamara, Eminence, Mrs. Madeline Copher and Mrs. William (Jackie) Firaneck, Louisville.

 

McHenry, Illinois Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.  The body was cremated and the remains were placed in the New Castle Cemetery.

Price Mefford

 

Price Mefford, 60, of New Castle, died suddenly Thursday, March 17, 1983 at his residence.  He was a Navy Veteran of WWII and a member of the New Castle United Methodist Church.

 

He is survived by seven sisters: Mrs. Ralph (Madeline) Copher, Louisville, Mrs. Stephen E. (Ida Mae) Banta, Louisville, Mrs. William (Jackie) Firaneck, Louisville, Mrs. Eugene (Mona) Brannan, St. Petersburg, FL, Mrs. James A. (Lillian) Henderson, Pleasureville,  Mrs. Mary Mahoney, New Castle, and Mrs. Joyce McNamara, Eminence; two brothers: Lester (Peck) Mefford, St. Petersburg, FL and L. J. Mefford, McHenry, IL.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday from Prewitt Funeral Home, New Castle.  Dr. Clayton Klingenfus, pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Barclay brown, pastor of the New Castle United Methodist Church.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Denise Megahey

 

Denise Ann Megahey, age 46, of Campbellsburg, died Thursday, September 7, 2006, at her residence in Bedford.  She was a native of Lincoln, NE and a member of the Campbellsburg Apostolic Pentecostal Church.

 

She is survived by her husband, Dan Robbins, Sr., Campbellsburg; one daughter: Ashley Walcott, LaGrange and one son, Clay VanVranken, OH; her parents: Rudy and Cheryl Primel; one brother, Lucas Primel; two sisters: Cherry Primel and Cheri Gifford and six grandchildren.

 

Services were held Sunday, September 10th at 1 p.m. at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. James Maroney, pastor of the Campbellsburg Apostolic Pentecostal Church, officiated.  A graveside service was held Monday, September 11th, at 11 a.m. at the Campbellsburg Masonic Cemetery.

Nell Kathryn Shuck Merchant

 

Nell Kathryn Shuck Merchant, 96, of Crestwood, died Thursday, December 2, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Ballardsville.  She was a native of New Castle, a member of the Crestwood Christian Church, the Red Hat Society, Tri-County Senior Citizens and the Middletown Frisky Folks and the former owner and operator of Nanette Beauty Salon in Crestwood.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband: Norris Merchant, Sr.; her son: Norris Merchant, Jr. and her brother: Price Shuck.

 

She is survived by her daughter: Nancy Kingery (Clyde); four grandchildren: Lisa Lynch, Shelbyville, Cameron Goodwin, Smithfield, Pamela Robards, Bethlehem and Danny Goodwin, Shelbyville; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

 

Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Crestwood Christian Church, with entombment in Louisville Memorial Gardens-East.  Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood was in charge of arrangements.

Bonnie Merritt

 

Bonnie Lou Merritt, age 50, of Eminence, formerly of Henderson, died Saturday, November 6, 2004 at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.  She was a native of Cabell County, WV, a member of the Community Baptist Church in Henderson, and was the daughter of the late Vernon and Maxine Crabtree Merritt.

 

She is survived by a son: Jefferson Templeton, Eminence; one sister: Becky Jackson, Huntington, WV and one brother: Gary Merritt, Huntington, WV.

 

A memorial service was held Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.

Clara Mertz

 

Clara Frances Popp Mertz, age 65, of Eminence, died Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Jewish Hospital Louisville.  She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Arletta Fink Popp.

 

She is survived by two sons: Freddy Mertz and Joe Wayne Mertz, both of New Castle; three daughters: Betty Sue West, Eminence, Mrs. Tim (Kathy) Combs, Goshen and Mrs. Ricky L. (Mary) Woods, Pleasureville; one brother: William (Poodie) Popp, New Castle; five sisters: Mary Frazier and Betty Clark, both of New Castle, ruthie Frazier, Port Royal, Doris Lake, Bedford and Judy Nolin, Campbellsburg; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 29th at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Larry Montgomery officiated.  Interment was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

Daphne Mertz

 

Mrs. Daphne Winters Mertz, age 62, of New Castle, died Thursday, May 17, 1990 at the Tri-County Community Hospital, LaGrange.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church, New Castle.  She was a retired employee of Teledyene Wirz Co., Carrollton, with thirty-three years of service.

 

She is survived by her husband: Mr. Lester Mertz, New Castle; one daughter: Mrs. Glenn (Kathy) Baxter, Route 3, Eminence; three sons: Larry L. Mertz, New Castle, Glenn Mertz, Smithfield and Dale Mertz, New Castle; two sisters: Mrs. Troy (Ada) Basil, Glasgow and Mrs. Wilma G. Williams, Coshocton, OH; three brothers: Jim Winters, Lockport, Latha Winters, Star Route, Lockport and Alva Winters, Louisville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19th at the Prewitt Funeral Home, New Castle.  Rev. Jim Somerville, pastor of the First Baptist Church, New Castle, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Jennifer Mertz

 

Jennifer Diane Morgan Mertz, age 6, of Eminence, died Saturday, October 1, 1983, at the U.K. Medical Center, Lexington, after an illness.

 

She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Mertz, Eminence; two sisters: Elizabeth Morgan and Martha Morgan, both of Eminence; two brothers: James Morgan and Arthur Morgan, both of Eminence and grandmother: Mrs. Maudie Moore, Carrollton.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 3rd from Prewitt’s, New Castle.  Rev. Barclay Brown, pastor of the New Castle United Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Liberty Cemetery, Owen County.

Martha P. Mertz

 

Mrs. Martha Belle Prewitt Mertz, 88, (born 1870) died at 6:30 a.m. Monday at her home on Drennon Road near Campbellsburg.  She had been ill for about two weeks.  She was a member of the Port Royal Methodist Church.

 

Survivors include one daughter: _____________; one son: Charles R. Bennett, Louisville; one half-sister: Mrs. Arie Bennett; six grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McCarty Funeral Home, New Castle.  The Rev. E. B. Scott officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Jasper Metts, Jr.

 

Jasper Metts, Jr., age 75, of Eminence, died Sunday, April 17, 2005 at his residence.  He was a Korean War Army Veteran, a lab technician at Hussey Copper for thirty-seven years, a member of the Eminence Baptist Church and the son of the late Jasper and Fannie Belle Metts, Sr.

 

He is survived by his wife: Mary Metts, Eminence; one daughter: Mrs. Steven (Tammy) Jones, Pleasureville; one son: Martin Metts, Eminence; one sister: Mrs. Arthur (Ella Mae) Miller, Germantown, OH and four grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 20th) at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, will officiate.  Interment will be in the Smithfield Cemetery.

Henry Meyer

 

Mr. Henry Fredrick Meyer, age 94, of Pendleton, died Friday, February 4, 1994 at Tri-County Baptist Hospital, LaGrange.  He was a retired detective for the L & N Railroad, a member of the Masonic Lodge #47, LaGrange and a member of the United Church of Christ.

 

He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Margaret Callis Meyer, Pendleton; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two sons: Paul and John.

 

Funeral services were held Monday, February 7th at 10 a.m. at Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford.  Bro. Dale Hanson, Sligo Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville, IN.

Tonya Ann Middeler, age 21, New Castle, died Thursday, November 9, 2006, at Norton Hospital, Louisville.

 

She is survived by her mother: Donna Hon, Campbellsburg; Father: Patrick Middeler, Deputy, IN; two children: Dalton May and Kylie May; one brother: Mitchell Middeler, Deputy, IN; fiancé, Robert May, New Castle; Grandparents: Donald Hon and Christine Hon, Madison, IN; step-grandfather: Billy Pettit, Frenchburg and step-great-grandmother: Cathlene Pettit, Sulphur.

 

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 13th at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Carl Rucker officiated.  Interment was in the Sulphur Cemetery.

Elizabeth Milby

 

Mrs. Elizabeth C. Milby, 37, (November 2, 1943 – May 5, 1981) of New Castle, died suddenly Tuesday at the King’s Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was a member of the Point Pleasant Christian Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: Larry T. Milby, New Castle; two daughters: Shelia and Lisa Simpson, New Castle; one son, Larry Milby, Jr., New Castle; her father: Estill Holcomb, Eminence; two sisters: Mrs. Curt (Mary) Lewis, Waddy and Betty McGuire, Eminence; three brothers: James R. Holcomb, Eminence, Russell and Everett Earl Holcomb, both of Pleasureville.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 8th from Prewitt’s, New Castle.  Rev. Bob Jassman, pastor of the Point Pleasant Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Arey N. Miles

 

Arey N. Miles, 84, well known to the citizens of Eminence and the county, died March 30, 1973 in Leesburg, FL.  Mr. Miles was born in Eminence, February 4, 1889.  His father was the late John M. Miles and his mother was Elizabeth Miles.  His first wife was Elizabeth Garner Miles and is now deceased.  They had two sons: Lee G. Miles and Phil M. Miles.

 

Arey Miles loved being with people.  He founded the picture show in Eminence in 1915 and managed it for forty-one years.  The films he made of the citizens around town he gave to the Henry County Library.  They were films that will always remind us of the styled worn at the time of the 40’s and the familiar faces of people around Eminence and the county. 

 

He was very civic minded.  He was past president of the Eminence Rotary Club, a member of the Masonic Lodge, a former mayor of Eminence and a former member of the Eminence Independent School Board for many years. 

 

His survivors include his wife: Elsie Funk Miles, Eminence; a son: Phil M. Miles, Lexington; five grandchildren: Phylis E. Miles, Lexington, William Arey Miles, Lexington, Mrs. Ronald (Sandi) Queer, Ligonier, PA, Henry Lee Miles, Lexington and Mrs. Susan Fields, Lexington.

 

A memorial service was held in Leesburg, FL. The funeral was at 2 p.m. at Ricketts Funeral Home, Eminence with burial in the Smithfield Cemetery.  Officiating at the funeral were the Reverends Marvin Purser and J. Gano Herndon.

Blanche M. Miller

 

Mrs. Blanche Mitchell Miller, 60, (1897 – February 5, 1958) North Pleasureville, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at King’s Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville, after a long illness.  She was a member of the Pleasureville Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: W. F. Miller, North Pleasureville postmaster and merchant; three sisters: Mrs. Katherine Denton, Louisville, Mrs. Eugene Batts, New Castle and Mrs. Raymond Watkins, Muldraugh and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Pleasureville Baptist Church.  Rev. Burrel Lucas officiated, assisted by Rev. William Hull, pastor of the New Castle Baptist Church.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Charlie Miller

 

Charlie Miller, age 11, of Pleasureville, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident.  He was a fifth grade student at Eastern Elementary School.

 

He is survived by his parents: Tinothy C. and Pamela Jean Kincaid Miller and one sister: Haley Faith Miller, all of Pleasureville; grandparents: Julian “PeeWee” and Doris Hammond Kincaid and Charlie and Joyce Miller, all of Owenton.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 27) at McDonald and New Funeral Home, Owenton.  Brother David Wotier and Brother Keith Miller will officiate.  Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery.

Helen Miller

 

Mrs. Helen G. Miller, 75, of Route 1, Sulphur, died Wednesday, October 30, 1985, at the Jewish Hospital, Louisville.  She was a native of Henry County and a member of the Sulphur Methodist Church.

 

She is survived by one son: Elza Webster, Sulphur; one great-grandson: Jon Foree, Sulphur; three daughters: Mrs. Faye Scarbrough and Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor, both of Sulphur and Mrs. Sally Schum, Louisville; four sisters: Mrs. Georgia Mae McIlvoy, Sulphur, Mrs. Mildred Louden and Mrs. Lucy Simmons, both of Pendleton and Mrs. Sue McClellan, Covington; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

 

Funersl services were held at 2 p.m./ Friday, November 1 at the Barnett-Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Bob Speagle, pastor of the Sligo Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Sulphur Cemetery.

James McDonald “Mott” Miller, 50, of Crestwood died Wednesday, March 27, 1985 at the Jewish Hospital, Louisville.  He was a retired automotive Mechanic for Doug Wearren Nurseries, Crestwood; a native of Estill County and the family have been residents of the Oldham County area for many years.

 

He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Kathleen Walker Miller, Crestwood; six daughters: Mrs. Bobby (Teresa) Brown, Lockport, Mrs. Mackie (Verna Katherine) Pettit, LaGrange, Mrs. Ronnie ( Janet Marie) Brown, Simpsonville, Mrs. George (Karen Lynn) McCoy, Lockport, Mrs. Henry (Dorothy) Taylor, Eminence and Miss Doris Jean Miller, Eminence; four sons: James E. “Jimmy” Miller, Cropper, Alan K. John Willie Miller, 83 (1889-1973), Sulphur, died Monday at Shelbyville.

 

He was a retired farmer.  Funeral service was Wednesday at Prewitt’s Funeral Home, New Castle.  Burial was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

Lee Mings

 

Mrs. Lee Mings, 51, of Prospect, died Monday, August 20, 1984, at the Baptist East Hospital, Louisville, where she had been a patient for the past week.  She was the former Lee Humphrey, a native of Cub Run, KY, a former Louisville resident, where she attended the Louisville Girls High School.  Lee and her husband, Bob, operated Bob & Lee’s Truck Stop for over thirty years, formerly on U. S. Highway 42, Oldham County, and presently at the Campbellsburg exit on I-71.  She was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church.

 

She is survived by her husband, Bob Mings, Prospect; two daughters: Miss Robbie Mings and Miss Rosie Mings, both of Prospect; two sons: Jerry Mings and Dennis Mings, both of Prospect; her mother: Mrs. Myrtle Cockeril, Louisville; one sister: Mrs. Rosie Davis, Westport; one brother: Mr. Bob Humphrey, Crescent Mills, CA.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 22nd at the Radcliffe Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Rev. Michael L. Gibbons, pastor of the Shiloh United Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Valley of Rest Cemetery, LaGrange.

Stuart L. Mings

 

Mr. Stuart L. Mings, 61, of Fallen Timber Road, Sulphur, died Sunday, September 23, 1984, at the Baptist East Hospital, Louisville.  He was a farmer, a native and former resident of Oldham County, a member of the 18 Mile Baptist Church, the Henry County Farm Bureau and the National Rifle Association.

 

He is survived by his wife: the former Sarah M. Wood, Sulphur; two daughters: Mrs. Sue Quinlan, Crestwood and Mrs. John L. Fischer, Jr., Pleasureville; one son: Thomas S. Mings, Smithfield; five sisters: Mrs. Mildred Wheeler, Mrs. Pearl Lack and Mrs. Louise Crowder, all of LaGrange, Mrs. Frances Young, Louisville and Mrs. Edna Satterly, Port Royal; one brother: Mr. Cornell Mings, LaGrange and six grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 26th at the Radcliffe Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Rev. Clayton Klingenfus, pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Valley of Rest Cemetery, LaGrange.

Rena Adams Miskell

 

Rena Adams Miskell, 43 (September 11, 1891 – October 6, 1934), wife of W. F. Miskell, proprietor of the Miskell Beauty Salon, of New Castle, died Saturday afternoon at 6 p.m.,  at the Southern Baptist Hospital in Louisville following an operation.  The deceased was taken to the hospital on Thursday, following her illness which became serious on Monday. 

 

Funeral services were conducted at the New Castle Christian Church, Monday at 2 p.m., with Rev. L. D. Fisher, of Somerset, officiating.  Burial was in the New Castle Cemetery.  She was a member of the Christian Church at Drennon Springs.

 

Besides her husband, the deceased is survived by one son, Delbert Miskell, and two grandchildren; her mother: Mrs. Ida Adams, Franklinton; two sisters: Mrs. Verlie Miller and Leona Jones, both of Franklinton and two brothers: Charles Clinton Adams and Francis Adams, Jr., both of Franklinton.

Billy Mitchell, Sr.

 

Billy David “Hobo” Mitchell, Sr., age 46 fo Shelbyville, died Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at his residence.  He was a painter and electrician at J. C. Whitney Job Corps Center, a member of the Beechridge Baptist Church and the son of the late James William, Sr., and Jean LaMaster Mitchell.

 

He is survived by his wife: Jeanette Mitchell, Shelbyville; two sons: Billy David “Bugs” Mitchell, Jr., Bethlehem, and Jimmy Wayne Mitchell, Eminence; one brother: Morgan Mitchell, Cropper; two sisters: Jackie Hudson, Bagdad, and Teresa Brown, Shelbyville

and three grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 2nd at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Shelbyville.  Interment was in the Cropper Cemetery.

Elmer Mitchell

 

Elmer A. Mitchell, age 80, of Pleasureville and Sebastian, Florida, died Friday, May 13, 2005 at Sebastian River Medical Center.  He was born in Cropper, a member of the Point Pleasant Christian Church, exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge in Sebastian, worked for Mitchell Dry Cleaners in Deland, FL and was the son of the late Alonzo and Alma Belwood Mitchell.

 

He is survived by his wife: Dean S. Belwood Mitchell, Pleasureville and Sebastian, FL; one brother: Edward Mitchell, Eminence; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one son: Gregory Mitchell.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19th at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Scott Storie, Point Pleasant Christian Church, will officiate, assisted by Rev. Ernest Miller.  Interment will be in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Lucille Mitchell

 

Mrs. Lucille Edrington Carder Mitchell, age 79, of Campbellsburg, died Saturday, July 23, 1994 at her residence after an illness.  She was a retired federal employee of the Department of Agriculture and a member of the Campbellsburg Christian Church.

 

She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Gayle (Patsy) Price, Turners Station, Mrs. Charles (Reta) Wilson, Florence, Mrs. Michael (Dianne) Eldridge, LaGrange and Mrs. Joe (Suzanne) Edelstein, New Castle; one sister: Mrs. Lena Mae Stivers, New Castle; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, July 25th at the Prewitt Funeral Home, New Castle.  Rev. Carl Rucker, pastor of the Campbellsburg Christian Church, officiated.  He was assisted by Rev. Brett Wilson, pastor and minister of youth, Terra Haute, IN.  Interment was in the Campbellsburg Masonic Cemetery.

Mr. Pleasant H. Mitchell, 75, of Campbellsburg, died Tuesday, September 11, 1984.  He was a retired farmer and a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Pleasureville.

Mrs. Louise Bush Moffett, age 87, died Sunday, October 14, 1990 at the United Medical Center, Shelbyville.  She was a native of Henry County, a member of the Shelbyville First Christian Church and owned and operated Snow Hill Florist from 1930-1953.

 

Survivors include one daughter: Mrs. John Hudson, Shelbyville; two sons: Albert M. Moffett, Shelbyville and Melvin D. Moffett, Shelbyville; one brother: Tom Bush, Eminence; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 16th at 10 a.m. at Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Dr. Howard Griffith officiated.  Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Robert C. Moloney

 

Robert C. Moloney, of New Castle, died Friday, October 14, 1983 at the Jewish Hospital, Louisville, after a long illness.  He was mayor of New Castle from November 1955 to December, 1976 and was a member of the New Castle Town Board and a member of the First Baptist Church of New Castle.

 

Mr. Moloney was an Army Captain in WWII, where he was a Tank Unit Commander.  He was awarded two Silver Stars for Gallantry in Action and received two purple Hearts for wounds received in action.  He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

 

He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Dorothy Allison Moloney, New Castle; two daughters: Miss Martha Allison Moloney, Washington, D.C. and Mrs. Elmo (Jamie Olmstead) Head, Frankfort; two grandchildren: Julia Allison Head and Robert C. Head, both of Frankfort; one sister: Mrs. Agnes Mauer, Fort Mitchell, KY; and one brother: Albert Moloney, San Diego, CA.

 

Graveside services were held Saturday, October 15th at the New Castle Cemetery.  Rev. Mikeal Parsons officiated.  Prewitt’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ivra Monhollen, 56, (May 6, 1925 – May 11, 1981) of Route 1, Smithfield, died at the Baptist East Hospital, Louisville after an illness.  She was a native of Estill County.

Darrell Monroe

 

Darrell Landon Monroe, infant son of Darrell and Joyce Monroe, of Campbellsburg, died Saturday, January 28, 1984.

 

He is survived by one brother: Jeremy Monroe; maternal grandparents: Rev. and Mrs. Paul Perry, Campbellsburg; paternal grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Hobart F. Monroe, Campbellsburg; and several aunts and uncles.

Rachel Monroe

 

Rachel Mae Monroe, age 100 of Bedford, died Thursday, September 8, 2005 at her residence.  She was a farmer and the daughter of the late Bill and Many Moore Eddy.

 

She is survived by two nephews: J. B. Eddy, Bedford and David Monroe, LaGrange; and friend and caretaker, Betty Burton, Pendleton.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Monroe, two brothers and one sister.

 

Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. Saturday, September 10th at Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford.  Rev. Jimmy Justice officiated.  Interment was in the Campbellsburg Cemetery.

Carrie Montfort

 

Mrs. Carrie R. Montfort, 94, (September 27, 1858 – February 3, 1953) widow of George D. Montfort, formerly of Campbellsburg, died Tuesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jessie Tingle, Port Royal.

 

Besides Mrs. Tingle she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Laura Singleton, Louisville; four sons: Roscoe Montfort, Crestwood, George D. Montfort and Frank Montfort, both of Louisville and Vories Montfort, Campbellsburg; one step-daughter: Mrs. C. L. Lee, Campbellsburg; two step-sons: Arthur G. Montfort, Crestwood and B. L. Montfort, Bedford; one sister: Mrs. Mattie Elston, Ghent; three brothers: Jasper Ransdell and Joe Ransdell, Campbellsburg, and Frank Ransdell, Turners Station; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the McCarty Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. William J. Guess, pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Campbellsburg Cemetery.

Vories Montfort

 

Vories Montfort, age 97, prominent farmer and life-long resident of the family farm at Campbellsburg, died Thursday, October 25, 1990.

 

He was the last surviving member of the thirteen children of George D. Montfort, Sr. and had owned for over sixty-two years the family farm established by his grandfather, Francis Vories, in 1821 and improved by his father who acquired it in 1867.  He married the late Onita Givens Montfort in 1916 and they reared four children.

 

He was active in obtaining school bus service for the Campbellsburg School in 1933.  He maintained a keen interest in the history of the community and kept a daily journal for over sixty years.  His word was his bond and his integrity served as an example for those who knew him.  He was a member of the Campbellsburg Methodist Church.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife and his daughter, Joyce Flood.  He is survived by a daughter Madge Dearth of Dayton, OH; two sons: Rodney Montfort, Austin, TX and Donald Montfort, Santa Ana, CA; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were held at the Ransdell Funeral Home, October 28th at 2 p.m. with burial in the Campbellsburg Cemetery.  Rev. Lavon Clem, Campbellsburg Methodist Church, officiated.

Hester Montgomery

 

Mrs. Hester Sanders Montgomery, 96, a former resident of Henry County, died at her home in Chula Vista, CA on September 24, 1983.  She was born February 2, 1887.

 

She was the daughter of George and Gertrude Bishop Sanders of Turners Station.  Her father died when she and her brother, J. B., were very young and shortly thereafter her mother moved to New Castle, where she became Post Mistress and the children attended school there.  She married Joe F. Montgomery and in 1916 they, along with his parents, moved to Beverly Hills, CA.  Joe died in 1961 and she moved into a condominium at Frederica Manor in Chula Vista.  All her family preceded her in death, her husband being the last.

 

Funeral services and burial were from White and Day Mortuary in Hermosa Beach, CA, September 26th in the family burial lot there.

Martha Montgomery

 

Martha K. Montgomery, age 73 of Pendleton, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at the University of Louisville Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late Jack and Mary Arnett Greenwood, a member of the Sligo Baptist Church and a retired banker at Citizens Fidelity Bank in Louisville.

 

She is survived by her husband: Grover Montgomery, Pendleton; one sister: Frances Davis, Hanover, IN; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by two brothers.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 14th at the Sligo Baptist Church.  Rev. Brad Laubinger, Rev. Earl Wayne Perry and Rev. Dale Hanson officiated.  Interment was in the Sligo Cemetery.  Ransdell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Sara Montgomery

 

Mrs. Sara Frances Montgomery, 83, (1898 – April 21, 1982) of Louisville, died Wednesday, at the Southwest Jefferson Community Hospital, Louisville.  She was formerly of Henry County and a retired LPN at Central State Hospital.

 

She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Kathleen Walls, Mrs. Martha McGohon, Mrs. Gene McGurk and Mrs. Juanita Heim, all of Louisville; one son: Dr. O. Thomas Montgomery, Louisville; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Ruth McCardwell, Louisville and Mrs. Kitty Gayle Kelly, Florida and one brother, Cash R. Thomas, Pleasureville.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 23rd at the Thomas Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. John Caldwell officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Lloyd Moody

 

Rev. Lloyd F. Moody, 75, of Eminence, died Friday, August 14, 1987 at Norton’s Hospital, Louisville.  He was a native of Elizabethton, Tennessee.  He was a retired Christian Church Minister, a supervisor for the Kentucky Department of Banking, and a member and Elder of the Eminence Christian Church.

 

He is survived by his wife: the former Margaret Carter, Eminence; three daughters: Mrs. Lloyd Bittinger, St. Simons Island, GA, Mrs. Marcia Brashears, Chatanooga, TN and Mrs. Mary Bess Cecil, Frankfort; and one sister: Mrs. Elsie Mae Gates, Lunch, KY.

 

Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 17th at the Eminence Christian Church with the Reverends Eldred Smith, William McConnell, Jr. and John Brand officiating.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.  Willhite-Ballard-Ricketts Funeral Home, Eminence, was in charge of arrangements.

William B. Moody

 

William B. Moody, 93, (1852-1945) former State Senator and editor of the Henry County Local, who practiced law in Henry County for about seventy years, died at 2 p.m., Sunday, at the Crain Nursing Home, Louisville. 

 

Mr. Moody was one of the most popular men ever to live in Henry County.  He was County Attorney from 1879 until 1886, and later in the early 1930’s and was State Senator from 1912 to 1916.  He served as attorney in scores of murder trials and was a special judge in several Kentucky feud cases.  He retired seven years ago and moved to Louisville.

 

He taught Sunday School class for sixty years at the new Castle Baptist Church where he was a member.  He was a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and the Masonic Order.

 

Funeral services were conducted at the New Castle Baptist Church at 10 a.m., Tuesday, with Rev. Ernest P. Russell, pastor, officiated.  Burial was in the New Castle Cemetery.

 

He is survived by a daughter: Mrs. Anna Moody Calvert, Louisville and three grandchildren: Mrs. Marcus G. Ransdell and William F. Calvert, Louisville and Major George Nevill Calvert, Division Commander of the Fourth Armored Division, Germany.

Allen Thomas “A. T.” Moore

 

Allen Thomas Moore, 87, (1855 – 1942) died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. W. Maydwell, in Eminence, Saturday morning.  He was a life-long resident of Henry County.

 

Funeral services were conducted at the residence at 3 p.m. Monday, with Rev. J. C. Busby officiating, assisted by Rev. F. D. Swanson and Rev. Watson Street.  Burial was in the Eminence Cemetery.

 

Besides his daughter, Mrs. Maydwell, he is survived by a brother, J. B. Moore of Eminence and several nieces and nephews and one grandchild, Miss Sara Louise Maydwell.

Alvin C. Moore

 

Alvin C. Moore, age 54, died Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at Jewish Hospital , Louisville.  He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam era, a truck driver for Don Hedges Excavating CO. and the son of the late Albert Moore.

 

He is survived by his mother: Margaret Wentworth Riley, Carrollton; two sons: Landon Long, Crestwood and Aaron Moore, LaGrange; two daughters: Monica Abersold and Mrs. Ronnie (Veronica) Moore, both of LaGrange; three brothers: Norman Moore, Billy Moore and Charles Moore, all of Carrollton; two sisters: Carolyn McDole, Carrollton and Marsha Moore, Bowling Green; five grandchildren, two aunts and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 23rd at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Paul Harvey, Crossroads Lighthouse Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

Betsy M . Moore, age 76, of Eminence, died Saturday, July 24, 2004 at the Masonic Home, Shelbyville. She was a retired Dietary Supervisor at the Masonic Home for 13 yars; a member of the Eminence Baptist Church for over sixty years and the daughter of the late Andy Lee and Blanche Aynes McCoy.

 

She is survived by her husband: Robert W. Moore, Eminence; two sons: Byron L. Moore, Eminence and R. Lamarr Moore, Louisville and five grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held Monday, July 26th at 1 p.m. at the Eminence Baptist Church.  Rev. Michael Duncan officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.  Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

C. W. “Squeak” Moore

 

C. W. “Squeak” Moore, age 80 of New Castle, died Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at the Hospice Center of Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  Squeak was a farmer and a tobacco warehouse solicitor and a WWII Army Veteran.  Son of the late Eugene and Mary Singleton Moore, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Moore and brother, Joseph Moore.

 

He is survived by his son: Dwain Moore and his wife, Yvonne, of Henry County and his sister, Mrs. Tommy (Dorothy) Ransdell, Port Royal.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 11th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Billy Forquer, pastor of the Corinth Christian Church, Richmond, and Rev. Nick Coleman, Sulphur, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Cecil Moore, Jr., age 66, of Shelby County, died Monday, February 27, 1995 at his home.  He was originally from Henry County and was a retired farmer.

 

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Moore, Shelby County; one daughter: Peggy Rader, Henry County; one sister, Doris Woodside; two granddaughters; two nieces and two great-nephews.

Elaine Beverly Moore, age 74, of New Castle, passed away Monday, November 21, 2005 in her home.  She was the daughter of the late Marvin and Lucille Hackett Beverly.  She retired from the United Citizens Bank after 28 years of service and was a member of the New Castle United Methodist Church.

 

She is survived by one son: Reid Moore and his wife, Cheryl, Campbellsburg; one grandson: Joseph W. “Joey” Moore, Campbellsburg; two sisters: Mrs. Woody (Wilma) Parrish, Lockport and Mrs. Alma M. Casey, Kilgore, TX; a brother: Russell H. Beverly and his wife, Ida, Bethlehem; several nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law: C. W. “Squeak” Moore and a sister-in-law: Dorothy Ransdell and her husband Tommy Ransdell.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph H. Moore, a brother, James A. Beverly and a nephew, Russell Beverly, Jr.

He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Carol Gerry, Pittsburg, PA and Patsy J. Ennis, Louisville; one sister: Mrs. Elizabeth Watson, Louisville; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Harriett Etta Ross Moore was born in Sulphur, KY, August 7, 1842, and departed this life January 29, 1919, having reached the age of 76 years, five months and twenty-two days.  In January, 1862, she was united in marriage to Daniel Moore.  To this union were born three children:  Mrs. C. A. Stivers, Glenwood, IA, Mrs. G. W. Ross and Mrs. Allie Ross, both of whom with the father have preceded her to the Heavenly home.  Mrs. Moore is survived by one daughter; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

 

Mrs. Moore joined the Baptist Church at Hillsboro, KY at the age of sixteen years.  On coming to Glenwood, IA, twenty-five years ago she united with the local Baptist church in which church she will be deeply mourned as a woman of piety and good works.

 

Funeral services, held in the Baptist Church January 31st at 2:30 p.m. were conducted by her pastor, Rev. C. E. Hillis.  Interment was in the cemetery in Glenwood, Iowa.

Hurley Moore

 

Mr. Hurley Moore, 84, of Route 1, Turners Station, died Saturday, March 23, 1985 at the Baptist East Hospital, Louisville.  He was a retired farmer and a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Clara Crawford Moore, Route 1, Turners Station; two daughters: Mrs. W. T. (Betty) Stinson, Cincinnati and Mrs. Arvin (Patsy) Highfill, Louisville; three sons: James W. Devine, Bobby Joe Moore and Vernon (Chuck) Moore, all of Route 1, Turners Station; one brother: J. W. Moore, Carrollton; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 26th from Prewitt’s, New Castle.  Rev. Gary Rucker, pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Isaac Moore

 

Isaac Clinton “Ike” Moore, age 60 of Campbellsburg, died Friday, January 26, 2007, in Shelbyville.  He served as constable for thirteen years in Henry County District 5, Worked as a mechanic, served during the Vietnam War stateside in the Army and was the son of the late Charles and Eliza Ann Blackaby Moore.

 

He is survived by his wife: Lillian “Lee Ann” Thomas Moore, Campbellsburg; one son: Chuckie Moore, Campbellsburg; three brothers: Maxie, Donnie and Charles Moore, Jr., all of Campbellsburg; and one sister: Sue Joslin, Campbellsburg.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and James Estill Moore.

 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 27th at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Brother Bobbie Wade, Apostolic Pentecostal Church of the Living God, officiated.  Interment was in the Campbellsburg Masonic Cemetery.

James Moore

 

James Estill Moore, age 69, of Madison, IN, died Saturday, June 26, 2004 at his residence.  He was a native of Henry County, the son of the late Charles and Eliza Ann Blackaby Moore, a veteran of the U. S. Army, a mechanic, owner of a taxi company, and Madison Mini Mart and other businesses, and a Pentecostal.

 

He is survived by his wife: Alma Jane Moore, Madison, IN; one son: Randy Moore, Madison; four brothers: Jr. Moore, Isaac Moore, Donnie Moore and Maxie Moore, all of Campbellsburg; one sister: Sue Joslin, Campbellsburg and two grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa Carol Moore, and one brother.

 

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 1st, at Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford with Brother Bobby Wade, Apostolic Pentecostal Church of the Living God, officiating.

Burial will be in the Carrollton IOOF Cemetery.

Mrs. Jessie Brewer Moore, age 71, of Route 1, Sulphur died Thursday, September 19, 1991 at the Tri-County Community Hospital, LaGrange, after a long illness.  She was formerly of Lockport and a member of the Lockport Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: Mr. Robert Lee “T” Moore, Route 1, Sulphur; one daughter: Mrs. Mary Lee Heilman, Campbellsburg; two sons: Robert Gayle Moore and Leonard Moore, both of Route 1, Sulphur; one sister: Mrs. Rena Hutchison, Frankfort; two brothers: Mr. John Brewer, Eminence and Mrs. Herman Brewer, Shelbyville and five grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 21st, at the Prewitt Funeral Home, New Castle.  Rev. Robin Jimmerson, pastor of the Campbellsburg Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Mr. Johnnie Alvin Moore, 46, of Route 2, Eminence, died Monday, December 28, 1988 in New Castle.  He was a farmer.

Joseph W. Moore, 64 of Louisville, died Saturday, February 19, 1983 at the University Hospital, Louisville, after an illness.  He was formerly of Henry County and an Army Veteran of WWII.

 

He is survived by four sisters: Mrs. William (Viola) Ellis, Louisville, Mrs. Tressie Pearl Montgomery, Shepherdsville, Mrs. William (Susie Bell) Porter, Louisville and Mrs. Curtis (Betty) Hatchell, Louisville; four brothers: George I. Moore, New Castle, Edward B. Moore, Allison Moore and Warren Moore, all of Louisville.

 

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 21st from Prewitt’s New Castle.  Dr. Clayton Klingenfus, pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Mrs. Kattie Thurmond Moore, 70, of Austin, TX, died Wednesday, November 20, 1985 in San Antonio, TX.  She was formerly of Henry County.

 

She is survived by one son: Master/Sgt. Marvin Thurmon, Austin, TX; one daughter: Mrs. Penny Richey, Cropper; four grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Marie Clubb, Mrs. Regis Hollis and Mrs. Betty Bolyard, all of Douglasville, GA.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 23rd at the Thomas Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Eugene Webster officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Mrs. Lillie Mae Moore, 70, of Capitol Hill Nursing Home, Frankfort, died Saturday, December 8, 1984.  She was a native of Shelby County, formerly of Henry County, a member of the Heritage Baptist Church and active in the Senior Citizens group.

 

She is survived by her husband: John C. Moore, Frankfort; one son: John S. Moore, Frankfort; four daughters: Mrs. Geraldine Wheeler, Pleasureville, Mrs. Betty Cecil, Charleston, IN, Mrs. Colleen Husband and Mrs. Anna Devine, both of Frankfort; two sisters: Mrs. Lorena Early, Louisville and Mrs. Marie Upton, Frankfort; one brother: Preston Smith, Frisco, NC; fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 10th at the LeCompte Funeral Home, Frankfort.  Rev. Gary Hager and Rev. Larry Franklin officiated.  Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort.

Lucille W. Moore, 90, passed away on Wednesday February 28, 1990 at Shelbyville.

Mrs. Mattie Moore, 82, of Route 2, Eminence, died Saturday, December 7, 1985, at the Jewish Hospital, Louisville.  She was a native of Spencer County and a member of the Elk Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: Edgar J. Moore, Eminence; two daughters: Mrs. Willie Schaefer, Anchorage and Mrs. Bettye Lawson, Eminence; three sons: Clyde Moore, Eminence, Robert Moore, Louisville, and Warren Moore, Eminence; two sisters: Mrs. Arretha Stivers, Louisville and Mrs. Bessie Moore, Shelbyville; and two brothers: Buy Burton, Louisville and Christopher Burton, Philadelphia, PA.

Obie Moore, 68 of Indianapolis, IN, died suddenly Saturday, April 2, 1983 at his home.  He was formerly of Lockport, a retired glass cutter of thirty-one years and a Veteran of WWII.

Mr. Paul G. Moore, age 81, of Eminence, died Saturday, March 6, 1993 at the Tri-County Baptist Hospital, LaGrange.  He was a native of Clayton, Kansas, a retired farmer and a member of the Point Pleasant Christian Church for fifty-two years.

 

He is survived by one daughter: Mrs. Judy Smith, Midway; three sons: Jay V. Moore, Lexington, Jack Moore, Louisville and Larry Moore, Pleasureville; one sister: Mrs. Willett (Augusta) Busey, Louisville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera, one daughter, Marilyn Moore Heightchew and one son, Marvin G. Moore.

 

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 9th at the Prewitt Funeral Home, New Castle.  Officiating was Rev. Phil Cook, pastor of the Point Pleasant Christian Church.  Interment was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

Raymond Moore, 72, of Route 1, Pleasureville, died Thursday, January 26, 1984 at his residence.  He was a retired farmer, and Army Veteran of WWII, and a member of the Lockport Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by five sisters: Mrs. Matthew (Lillian) Marbach, Ingalls, IN, Mrs. G. W. (Beatrice) Arnold, Lockport, Mrs. Deward (Sylvia) Stivers, Pleasureville, Mrs. Gene (Catherine) Stivers, Lockport and Mrs. Lewis (Rosa) Lyons, Bethlehem; three brothers: Cecil Moore, Indianapolis and Albert Moore and Charlie Moore, both of Lockport; and

Several nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 1st at the Pleasureville Cemetery.  Rev. Wayne Kelley, pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Church, officiated.  Prewitt’s Funeral Home, New Castle, was in charge of arrangements.

Sarah Moore

 

Mrs. Sarah Marie Shinkle Moore, 38, (February 19, 1945 – February 25, 1983) of Route 2, Pleasureville, died Friday at her residence.  She was a member of the Kentucky Dairy Goat Club, a native of Boone County, a school bus driver for five years for the Henry County Board of Education and a member of the Cropper Christian Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: Curtis C. Moore, Route 2, Pleasureville; one son: Jeffrey Curtis Moore, Route 2, Pleasureville; her mother: Mrs. Marie Bradley Shinkle, Eminence; two sisters: Mrs. Robert Scott (Janie) Cook, Eminence and Mrs. Jonath Ann Jackson, New Castle; three brothers: Charlie Shinkle, Shelbyville, William Shinkle, Pleasureville and John Robert Greenville, Eminence.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 28th from Prewitt’s, New Castle.  Elder Louis Edday, pastor of the Eminence United Pentecostal Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.
