Submitted by Jonathan Johnson: Registry: #0000148Hopkins County, Ky Deeds Deed Book 18 Page 511This Indenture made this 11th day of August 1853 between Jesse Vannoy and Hannah Vannoy his wife, Alderson Sisk & Nancy his wife & Letty Curtis, of the County of Hopkins, and Duncan Stewart & Matilda his wife of the County of Muhlenberg & John Curtis all of the State of Kentucky of the first part and Joseph S. Thomas of the said County of Hopkins & State aforesaid of the Second part Witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the Sum of four hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the party of the Second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the party of the first part they the said party of the first part have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey unto the said party of the second part & his Heirs and aßigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying & being in the said County of Hopkins on the waters of Pond River containing ninety seven acres (be the same more or leß) and bounded as follows (towit) Beginning at two red oaks & Hickory corner of James Hicklins 4 ½ acre Survey running thence N 75° West 83 ¾ poles to a Post oak and red oak, thence South 15° W 242 poles to a hickory and two Dogwoods thence S 75° East 83 ¾ poles to a Stake Standing half a pole from hickory & Elm marked as a corner thence N 15° E 242 poles to the Beginning with its appurtenances. To Have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances unto the said party of the Second part his Heirs &c. to his & their only proper use and befoof(?) And the said party of the first part for themselves their Heirs &c. the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances unto the said party of the Second part his Heirs &c. against the claim or claims of them the said party of the first part their Heirs &c. and against the claim or claims of all & every person or persons whatever will warrant & forever defend by these presents. In Testimony whereof the said party of the first part have hereunto Subscribed their names and affixed their Seals the day & year first aforesaid. There is 3 acres included in the boundary in this deed making 100 acres in all which is hereby conveyed but the title is not warranted to said 3 acres which is Said to have been contracted to John Bourland. Commonwealth of Kentucky Muhlenberg County } Sct. I William H. C. Wing clerk of the County Court for the County aforesaid certify that this Deed from Jeße Vannoy & wife & others to Joseph S. Thomas was on this day produced to me in the Clerks office & acknowledged by Duncan Stewart & Matilda his wife grantors therein named in due form of Law to be their act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned Whereupon Said Deed together with this certificate is certified to the proper office for Record. Wright Clerk of the Logan County Court do certify that the Deed from Jeße Vanoy & wife & others to Joseph S. Thomas was this day acknowledged before me in my office by John H. Curtis to be his act & deed and ordred to be certified to the Clerk of Hopkins County Court for record. Whereupon the same together with this certificate is duly certified for record. Given under my hand this 27th day of February 1854. James E. Wright clerk By Absalom Dempsy DC Memo. The Boundary described in this Deed includes land which is claimed by & belongs to Henry Porter. The true amount of land conveyed in this Deed is 105 acres and is bounded as follows towit Beginning at two hickories corner to H. Porter running N 75° W 84 poles to a black oak & Post oak in C. Murpheys line thence with said line S 15 ½ W 200 poles to a hickory elm & black [oak?] said Porters corner thence with his line S 75 E 84 poles to two Small hickories thence with another line of Said Porter N 15 ½ E 200 poles to the beginning. This 1st March 1854. Joseph S. Thomas Kentucky Hopkins County } Sct. I Orlean Bishop clerk of the County Court for the County aforesaid do certify that this Deed from Jeße Vannoy & wife & others to Joseph S. Thomas was this day produced to me together with the Memorandum thereon endorsed. Which said Memo was acknowledged by Joseph S. Thomas to be his act and deed. Whereupon the said Deed together with my former certificate and the certificates of Wm. H. C. Wing Esqr. and James E.
