Eddie Childress received All-County, All-7th District, All-2nd Region, and All-State honors, among others, at South Hopkins High School. He set a school record in 1969, scoring 53 points against Dawson Springs High School. He played college basketball for Austin Peay University, where in 1973 was named All-OVC. Eddie Childress was chosen in the 7th round of the NBA Draft in 1973 to the Milwaukee Bucks.
