The cemetery begins at a fence located on the edge of Swann road and runs approximately 100 ft. to the south from the road. Swann cemetery was the Gupton and Swann family cemetery from the 1880's until the 1940's with burials occuring there until at least 1939. It is very difficult to locate as the only remaining portions of the cemetery are a concrete retaining wall at the base of a holly tree. This cemetery has been almost completely destroyed. All markers, except for a concrete retaining wall with the inscritpions JG and MG on the headstone, have been removed and many of the grave sites have been dug into. When I first visited the cemetery in 1985 with my grandfather, the area was overgrown with brush, the gravesites had been dug into and human remains were lying on top of the ground. My grandfather told me that the owner of the land surrounding the cemetery had removed the stones and turned the area into a dog pen in the 1950's. We visited this cemetery several times that year and cleaned the area up as best as we could. I visited the area again in late 2006 and found it in much the same condition as we left it in 1985. Evidently the owner of the surrounding land is aware that a cemetery exists here and has not disturbed it any further. I noticed that this cemetery is not listed on this site and is not in the Graves County Cemetery book that I have. I do not know if anyone else has any records of this cemetery or not, so I am submitting what information I have so that it may be preserved. I have a list of some people who I suspect are buried here but have no obituaries, records, or eyewitness accounts of. I have only included those individuals who I am sure are buried within this cemetery. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/kyfiles/
