the first saturday in march 1909.a congergation of ministers and church members 
met at callihan schoolhouse to organize a baptist church. the inquiry committee 
was. James Jones, Sam Elam, Thomas Turner, John Messer, Peter Jarvis, Mary 
Wilson, John Trent. After examining this body we believe they are able to keep 
house after the Article of Faith of the Goose Creek Association. Following is 
a list of names of orginized members.  Nancy Asher, Dave Elam, James Hutton, 
James Asher, Organ Jones, Mattie Martin, Mary Parrott, Celie Elam, Jarvy Fee, 
Charles Wilson, Etta Woollum. the church to be called the United Baptist 
Church of Christ at Callihan.  Church voted to elect S.A. Taylor their 
moderator, James Asher,clerk, Charles Wilson and Mary Wilson deacon and 
deaconess.  Elder J.G.Jones, Henry Hinkle, J.C.Barnes, John Quillen, presbytery 
Peter Jarvis,clerk.
