It appears that Clerk Fork was in existance prior to the beginning of these minutes in 1802. It was also known as Stockton Valley#2 and at various times was a member of the Green River, Stockton Valley & Russel Creek Association. Isaac DENTON was pastor here at one time. This church is in Clinton Co but was formerly in Cumberland Co thus will contain many Cumberland Co names. Names will be shown as spelled and the clerk wasn't the greatest speller! May 1802: Isaac DENTON chosen moderator. Received Tomes & Polley WALKER by experience. William WOOD chosen to write a letter to the Green River Association, to apply for membership June 1802: William BOND, Annie BECK and Mary GOODMAN (or GOODSON) received by experience. Isaac DENTON called as pastor. July 1802: Isaac DENTON not sure, asks church to wait for his decision. Samuel MEAN, Benjamin SMITH & Samuel SCOTT to assist at Lick Creek Church re allegations against Ann DENTON (speaking harshly in an angry frame of mind). She apologizes. Same allegation against Agnese CROUCH for requesting that Sally JENTRY withdraw from the church. (these were members of Lick Creek). Aug 1802: Received John ROBERSON & Martha his wife by exp. William GOODSON chosen as deacon. Isaac DENTON still had not reached a decision. Clerk said he forgot to record minutes Sept, Oct and Nov. Dec 1802: Benjamin CAMPBELL came forward & told the church that while he was shucking corn he drank to excess, used bad language and sinned. Repents and was restored. Owen ADKINS received as a transient member under watch care of the church. Sally ROBERTSON received by experience. Jan 1803: Received by letter James ROBERSON Sr and Mary his wife. March 1803: Owen ADKINS excluded for immoral conduct. Elizabeth LONG received by letter. Apr 1803: Received John, George and Sarah WOOD by letter and Susannah LEE and Savanah WOOD. Next meeting to be held at Henry REAGIN's. May 1803: Received by letter Moses & Tabitha ROBINSON. June 1803: Received by exp. Stephen ROBINSON and Winney his wife, John ROBINS, Wm ROBERTS. By letter Moses LEE & his wife Elizabeth. Next service at Henry REAGIN's. July 1803: Received by exp: Rebeckah ROBENS and Lucy HUDDLESTON, Joseph LINDER (rector from Chestnut Ridge), William CAMPBELL and wife Nancy (under watch care). Later that month the last 2 were received as members. Recvd Isaac WINDOT and his wife. Rec'vd by exp: Jean, WIlliam and Susanah ROBERTS, Sally & Michael SPECK. Aug 1803: Samuel WOOD to acquire a ream of paper for taking minutes, also a bottle of wine with 2 plates & tumblers for communion. Oct 1803: Loaned Beaver Creek Church the wine.
