James CROUCH brought serious charges against Isaac DENTON re his language to Sally WOOD. He explained what had happened and decided to talk to CROUCH. Wm GRIMSLEY, Wm WOOD, Thomas SCOTT, Thomas WOOD and Jonathan SMITH to labor with Aggy CROUCH and Isaac DENTON re a difficulty between them. Rebecca STOCKTON returned her letter. Feb - Brethren appt to talk to sister CROUCH and Bro DENTON reported no reconciliation. Church finds no charge against Bro DENTON. Discussed the "contradiction" between Minerva SMITH and Betey YOUNG and Rebecca HULL - laid over. Sulphur Church contacted this church re the ordination of Isaac CROUCH - held over. Recvd by experience Chautall? and Polly JONES, Ed CLARK. Eliza CHUTH? granted letter of dismission. Mar - Peggy BUNCH made acknowledgement of her conduct & church finds no charge. Preston SMITH excluded. Jane HULL excluded for sending word to the church that she never intended to attend again.Menerva SMITH, Betsy YOUNG and Rebecca HULL say their difficulty is settled among them. Church approves ordination of Isaac CROUCH and Lewis ELLISON and Henry TUGGLE to represent the church. Wm WOOD to give Bro TUGGLE notice and Isaac HULL to give Bro ELLISON notice. James STAFFORD excluded and Peggy BUNCH. Church took up Isaac DENTON's charge against James CROUCH that CROUCH was charning DENTON with forgery or some like crime. CROUCH suspended until case decided. Peggy BATEMAN recvd by experience. Betsey CROSS died 21 May 1821. May - Dexter MABERY and wife Nancy granted letters of dismission. James CROUCH excluded. Aggy CROUGH excluded for refusing to submit to the church and withdrawing herself. Wm THRASHER charged by Isaac CROUCH for supposedly drinking to excess and also John SMITH. Wm WOOD, Philip SMITH, THos WOOD, Jobe McCLLEN (sic) and Carter DALTON to talk tothem. Jaems MABERY, Roland JONES, Sally MABRY, Dicy JONES, Cedy FLOWERS granted letters of dismission. Recvd by experience Sally CARTER Jun -Wm THRASHER's case taken up, no charges found. Church to consider ordination of John CROUCH and Jonathan SMITH as itinerant preachers. Delegates to association meeting picked - Wm WOOD, Isaac DENTON, John CROUCH & Jonathan SMITH. Jul - Wm GOODSON Sr's excessive drinking case - will overlook it for now. Church thinks Jonathan SMITH and John CROUCH should be ordained in Sept. Church says that Bro McCLELLEN should not make appointments for the purpose of preaching or expounding the Scriptures and that Jacob HOLSAPPLE be set on the same ground. Church tolerates James BECKET & Wm CROSS to exercise their gifts. E BRISTOE and wife granted letters of dismission. Aug - Henry HULL apologized for his conduct at the July meeting. Church accepts apology with a reprimand. Solomon HUTTEL excluded for lying when he stated that there was no doubt that there were infants in hell. Edwin CLARK excluded for his conduct in a fight over his missing church. Wm BROWN recvd by experience. Benjamin CAMPBELL recanted & was restored. Sep - Menerva SMITH excluded for joining another society. Josiah BECKETT to have a written license given him to preach. Recvd by experience Jacob GRIMSLEY.Emily GRIMSLEY granted letter of dismission along with John KENNEDY & wife Susannah. Oct - Thomas SCOTT informed the church that Samuel SCOTT drank too much, church agrees to pass over it. Polly MILLER granted letter of dismission; Polley FROGG recvd by experience along with John C SMITH, Rebecca ELLIS and Saley LOONEY. Nov - no minutes Dec - Charge agaisnt Sameul HOPKINS for being with a group of men where a man was unlawfully whipped; church to bear with him.
