Minutes of the Organization of Garfield Baptist Church 
Garfield Kentucky 
Sept 20, 1902 


        A band of brothers and sisters met at this place for the purpose of 
organizing a Baptist Church.  After singing “Jesus Lover of my Soul”.  Bro J. W 
Lyons asked to act as temporary moderator and Clifton Payne was asked to act as 
temporary clerk . 
        The churches invited to assist in this organization were called and 
their representatives enrolled as follows: 
New Bethal               Rev E. B. English 
Corinth                  J. W. Lyons 
Friendship              C. W. Payne 
                        J. R. Weatherford 
                        Clifton Payne 
Walnut Grove            R. B. Basham 
                        H. T. Gibson 
                        John Gibson 
Lovington               Rev J. T. Lewis 
Lost Runn               Taylor Compton 
                        John Stinnette 
Invited Minister        J. Duggins 
Motion and sec. that the temporary chairman of this meeting be made the 
permanent chairman.
