Union Church in Barren Co re- questsed help in ordination of J K TINSLEY to the ministry. L S SMITHWICK called unanimously to the ministry of this church; W P NEAL, J T DOWNING & C C CARTER to see him. Sexton paid for last yr, continued for another year. Feb - C C CARTER preached. Committee reported they had told SOUTHWICK of his call. Polly AGERS excluded for giving birth to base born child. Thomas PARSLEY came forward & asked church to forgive him; was accepted and he, sister E E PARSLEY granted letters of dismission. Jerry JORDAN came before the church and admitted to having thoughts a member of the church should not have and asked that his name be erased. He was excluded. Rosco ELLIS reportedly has been intoxicated several times; excluded. Mar - John PATTERSON preached. The Monroe Church in Monroe Co asked for ministerial and deacon aids in the ordination of J R COX to the ministry, granted. Apr - L A SMITHWICK preached. Harmony Church requested aids in deacon ordination. SMITHWICK accepted the call as pastor. Report that a portion of the proceeds of the sale of lands devised by James BRANDON decd to the church is now in the hands of the Master Commissioner of the county; will go to the Circuit Court to be paid over to the church. May - Same preacher, discussion of the bequest above. Jun - No new business Jul - J H VANCE preached. Association meeting discussion. Aug - No meeting - Association. Later meeting recvd by letter Jasper S FREEMAN and wife Sarah D. Letter of dismission granted Elisabeth CREEK. Case of Nancy HARP & Taylor HARP taken up, both excluded for immoral and unscriptural conduct. Sep - F M CHILDERS preached. Oct - J M JORDAN came forward, acknowledged bad conduct, had been baptised & joined the church but he was not satisfied and wished to be re-baptised. Granted. Resolution adopted for Bro Wm F NEAL, died 21 Oct 1877 in the 75th year of his age. Testimonials given and then the service continued ford several days. John HEISTAD [sic}, George MATHENY, Joseph DOSEY [sic], M E JORDAN joined by experience and baptism. Nov - SMITHWICK preached. Dec - Same preacher. Letter of dismission given Wm T FARINGTON.
