Submitted by: Sandi Gorin http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00002.html#0000404 Additional Comments: Some information to help the researcher: When a guardian was appt, it did not necesarrily mean that both of the parents were deceased. Guardians were also appointed if the remaining parent could not provide for the child; or a guardian "ad litem" could be appointed to represent the child in a legal matter where the parent felt they could not best represent the interests of the child. An INFANT usually represented anyone between birth and age 14. TENDER AGE represented anyone from age 14 to age 21. During this age grouping, the child could normally pick his own guardian. If the word "orphan of" did not appear, this meant that it was a temporary guardianship, likely for a legal matter. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/kyfiles/
