KALFUS (esquires) On the motion of Moses HOGLAND Overseer of the public road leading from John Myers to DOUDALLS/DOWDALLS Ferry it is ordered that all the hands living within the following boundaries do assist him in his duty towit: Beginning at Moses HOGLANDS to ___ him running down the Big Run to its mouth thence down Salt River to the mouth upon Brown’s run thence up Browns run to the Beginning - ------------------------------------------------ Inventory and appraisement of the estate of Jacob GROSS dec’d Rec’d with the sale Bill of said Estate and ordered to Record ------------------------------------------------ On the motion of Martin HARSHFIELD it is ordered that Martin HARSHFIELD, John HARSHFIELD, Moses HOGLAND & Jeremiah P. HINTON be appointed viewers to view and report to court the best route for a public road leading from the Sign Post at Robert MALONEY’S to Louisville in a direction to cross Pond Creek at SPEED (?) _____ ------------------------------------------------ Settled accounts of the Executors of William SHAIN dec’d who was admr. of Charles B. SHAIN & William SHAIN dec’d Returned approved and ordered to be recorded ------------------------------------------------ Absent N. P. SAUNDERS & Present Wm. HILL Esq.s ------------------------------------------------ On motion of Ann Mariah CRANDELL admx. of Thomas CRANDLE dec'd it is ordered that Samuel HORNBACK, Joseph SANDERS Jr., John C. SHANKLIN & Isaac HORNBACK or any three of them being first sworn do Settle the accounts of said administratrix and make report thereof to this Court ------------------------------------------------ William NEWKIRK, Charles DRAKE, Blaxton GENTRY, three of the Commissioners appointed to view the proposed way by Austin HALL to change part of the public road from Shepherdsville to Mount Vernon & all the old Road made their report which is ordered to be filed marked A. and on the motion of the said Austin HALL the way proposed as reported is established as part of the said Public Road and the old road is vacated and the Surveyor of Said road is directed & ordered to work on that part of said road which is hereby established. ------------------------------------------------ On this 4th day of July 1825 personally appeared in open court being a court of Record, Joseph LLOYD, resident in Said County aged sixty four years who being first duly sworn according to Law doth on his oath make the following declarations in order obtain the provision made by the acts of Congress the 18th March 1818 and the 1st May 1820, that the said Joseph LLOYD entitled for the Sum of Eighteen monthly on (or about) the 1st day of April 1781 in the State of Virginia in the Company Commanded by Captain Samuel FINLEY in the 4th Virginia Regiment commanded by Colonel Thomas GASKINS in the Line of the State of Virginia on Continental Establishment. That he Continued to Serve (?) in Said Corps or Company until he was sent home sick from York Town after which he obtained the Certificate of discharge of Brigadier General Daniel MORGAN That he hereby relinquishes every Claim whatever to a Pension except the present; That his name is not on the Roll of any State except Virginia; and that the following are the reasons for not making earlier application for a Pension viz. He did not wish to be burdensome to his Country & did not wish to Call on it for a Support until increasing age & infirmities rendered it necessary. And in pursuance of the act of the 1st May 1820 I do solemnly Swear that I was a resident Citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March 1818 and that I have not Since that time by givt, sale or in any manner disposed of my property or any part thereof with the intent thereby so to diminish it as to being myself within the provisions of an act of Congress Entitled "an act to provide for Certain persns engaged in the Land and Naval Service of the United States in the revolutionary War" passed on the 18th day of March 1818 and that I have not nor has any person in _____ for me any property or Securities Contracts or Debts due to me nor have I any income other than what is Contained in the Schedule hereto annexed and by me subscribed towit: one mare & colt value of $40 5 Head of Cattle $20 1 Sow & 5 pigs $2 3 Tables $2 Cupboard furniture $1 1 Cracked Tea Kettle, 2 small Kettles, one oven $4 total: $69.00 that since the 18th of March 1818 the following charges have been made in my property viz. I owned no land even then or now, I have now more cattle & Hoggs than I then possessed. I moved to Kentucky in the year 1815 the expences of which nearly took all my property and since the 18th March 1818 I have increased my little property to the above value of $69. The declarant further states that he is now old and has no other means of supporting himself & family but by Keeping a Small Country School at low rates and from his age & his increasing infirmities he is sometimes unable to attend to that business. He has a wife who is about fifty five years old and is unable to do much labour. He has three daughters & two sons living with him whose ages are as follows: Patsy in her 22nd year, Alsey in her 20th year, Lydia in her 13th year, John in his 18th year and George in his 15th year. (signed) Joseph LLOYD ------------------------------------------------ On this 4th day of July 1825 personally appeared in Open Court (being a Court of Record for Bullitt County) John GOLDSMITH resident in said County aged sixty eight years who being first duly Sworn according to law on his Oath makes the following Declarations in order to obtain the provision made by the acts of Congress of the 18th March 1818 and the 1st May 1820: That he the said John GOLDSMITH enlisted for the Term of Two years on the ____ (left blank) of February 1776 in the State of Virginia in the Company Commanded by Captain Samuel WOODSON in the 9th Virginia Regiment Commanded by Col. MATTHEWS in the line of the State of Virginia an Continental Establishment that he Continued to serve in said Corps until the experation of the time for which he enlisted when he was discharged from the Service at Valley forge in the State of Pennsylvania. That he hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a Pension except the present; that his name is not on the roll of any State except Virginia and that the following are the reasons for not making earlier application for a pension towit: He obtained a discharge from an Officer whose name he does not recolect and having lost said discharge by accident and having been informed that is Captain had long since departed this life, he knew of no person nor does he yet know of any person by whom he Could prove by witnesses before he could be placed on the pension list but he has lately been advised to apply on his own oath of service And in pursuance of an act of May 1820 I do solemnly Swear that I was a resident Citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March 1818 and that I have not since that time by gift, Sale or any or any manner disposed of my Property or any part thereof with intent thereby so to diminish it as to _____ myself within the provisions of an act of Congress entitled "an act to provide for certain persons engaged in the Land and Naval Service of the United States in the Revolutionary War." passed on the 18th day of March 1818 and that I have not nor has any person for me interest (?) for me any property or securities contracts or debts due to me. Nor have I any in come other than what is contained on the Schedule hereunto annexed and by me Subscribed. That since the 18th of March 1818 the following changes have been made in my property about that time I had an equitable claim to one hundred acres of Land of third rate. A mare and Colt and Stout twenty Dollars worth of cattle (?) and about thirty dollars worth of Hogs. The declarant further states that he is a bricklayer by trade but now is too old and infirm to pursue it for support. He has a wife nearly of his own age. Who has been Sick for upwards of four years and he has been forced to dispose of his Lands, Mare and Colt and a part of his Cattle and Hogs to pay Doctors Bills and for the support of himself & wife. He has five children towit three Sons and Two Daughters who are grown and who have left him and he ____ no support from them. The Schedule of the property now owend by him is as follows - one Cow and Calf at $7, 13 head of Small Hogs $8, 2 Chairs .50, Household and kitchen furniture $2 One Small Garden Hoe, Shovel, plough and axe @ $2 (signed) John (X) GOLDSMITH ------------------------------------------------ Present Rudolphus BUKY - absent N. ROBARDS moved the Court to rescind the order admitting to record the settled accounts of the Executors of William SHAIN dec'd who was administrator of Charles B.
