That me be true in some ways, but for the most part, give me the good old days of the 2000s. Back in the 1950s we didn't have central heat or air conditioning. We didn't have color television or refrigerators with side-by-side doors, icemakers, water and ice outside the door and ice cream makers in the freezer. We didn't have cable television or hot tubs. Today we have home computers and our children have a whole new way to learn from educational computer programs at home. We adults use the computer to store household records, figure our taxes, pay bills, etc. Restaurants have come a long way too. We now have dozens of fast-food fanchises for hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, and more. The even have drive up windows. None of these were around in the "good old days". Medicine has changed. Aside from the tremendous advances made in fighting major diseases, there are now home test kits for varous ailments. Our recreational toys have come a long ways. Back in the fifties boats were made of wood, which was heavy and time-consuming to maintain. Today most boats are made of fiberglass and require little maintenance. There are many other recreational vehicles available to us, such as Jet Ski boats, sailboats, hang gliders, skateboards, snowmobiles, three wheelers and more. There are all kinds of new gadgets for the home - like microwave ovens, blenders, dishwashers, clothes dryers, rug shampoers and the list goes on and on.
