(Gradyville) Born, to the wife of Luther MAUPIN, Dec. 27th, a daughter. (Pellyton) ATKINSON - HANCOCK —Last Wednesday forenoon at the hour of 10 o'clock, Dr. E. B. Atkinson, a well-known physician of this county, was married to Miss Frances Hancock, daughter of W. E. Hancock, who resides near Cane Valley. SCOTT - GARNETT ---At the hour of 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon December 26, 1900, Mr. J. M. Scott , of Paris, Texas was united in marriage to Miss Ellie Garnett, a highly respected young lady, who resided a few miles South of Columbia—a daughter of Mrs. Victoria Garnett and a niece of Judge James Garnett, this city. … The couple will leave for Texas in about 10 days… STRANGE - WHITE ---Last Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock the Presbyterian church was crowded to witness the marriage of Mr. J. C. Strange to Miss Lula White. … A reception was held at the home of the brides parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. V. White, for relatives and friends. As announced in last week's News, Mr. W. R. LYON and Miss Ivy YATES were promptly married at the Baptist church, Bradfordsville on the morning of the 28th. They will be at their home in Campbellsville after January 5th. Born, to the wife of W. O. PILE, on December 25, 1900, a son. The grandfather of the infant, Mr. Oscar Pile, celebrated his 81st birthday the same day. Cards are out announcing the marriage of S. G. STONE and Miss Catherine DIXON, on the sixth of this month at Bayard, Mo. Mr. Stone was formally (sic) an Adair county man, his old home being in the neighborhood of Bliss. Mr. Logan HAM, a United States Soldier, married Miss Stella CAMPBELL of Creelsboro, last Sunday morning in Jamestown. Mr. Ham is a son of Mr. B. Ham, of Garrard county, and the bride a daughter of Mr. E. Campbell, a Creelsboro merchant. Since our last issue the following have secured licenses, at Columbia, and will take the bitter and sweets of life together. Mr. E. J. RAFFERTY to Miss Virgie L. VANCE; H. L. KELTNER to Miss Ora NELSON; Theodore HAYNES to Miss Eliza ACREE; Jas. W. JONES to Miss Lizzie THRASHER; L. Porter JONES to Miss Minnie EARLES; Oscar L. WEST to Miss Armilda RICH. William DARNELL, of Montgomery county, fell from his wagon, heavily loaded with coal, while going down hill. The wagon passed over his abdomen, crushing him in a horrible manner. Death relieved him of his sufferings. John PHILPOT, a carpenter of Monroe county, stumbled and fell out of a high door, three nails penetrating his head, one entering the temple, one the eye and one the forehead. He died a half an hour later. John MEYER committed suicide at Louisville by shooting himself just above the heart. Bad health supposed to be the cause.
