Casey County News Excerpts, August 11, 1904 Stringtown, KY, Tuesday morning, July 26. Sallie, daughter of W. M. Hill, 28 years old died. Funeral by Robert Johnson. Survived by father, three sisters and two brothers. Miss Mattie Rochester, of Independence, MO, who has been the guest of her Aunt Mrs. Sue Burke for several days returned home Saturday. Mary Elgyline, the infant daughter of Samuel Green Wethington and his deceased wife, Susie Yates, died on the 3rd inst. The remains were buried in St. Bernard's cemetery the 5th. Miss Francis Phillips, of Knoxville and Miss Georgia Dunn, of Texas, are with their aunt, Mrs J. H. Pruit, this week. A. H. Rowe, and daughter, Miss Nannie, of Rowena, were shopping here last week. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Hannon, were called to the bedside of her sister, Mrs. Pink Coffey, of Joppa. Mrs. Coffey, is very ill and not expected to recover. Miss Alice Cabell of Hustonville, is visiting her sister Mrs. Sallie Stagg, at present. Miss Matilda Elliott, of Middleburg, is visiting her aunt, Mrs. Nancy Dye. Miss Polly Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Williams, died on the 4th after a short illness of typhoid fever. Misses Lillie and Sarah Frederick of Lonesome Hill, were the guests of their aunt, Mrs. Lola Leach, at Duncan. News has reached this place that Mrs. Sallie Kelton, formerly of this place, but now of Martonville, Idn., dropped dead of heart failure last week. Mrs. Bryant Adams had as her guest the past week, her daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Cary, of Lebanon Junction. Frank Walls, of Duncan, who had his finger cut off some weeks ago, died at his home, Saturday, July 30, of lock jaw. Ezekiel Mead of Cincinnati, and brother Jim of Somerset, passed through here, Monday for Liberty, on business. Born to the wife of W. Evans, a 14 pound boy. Mrs. Walter Gooch, of Indiana came home to attend the funeral of her father. Born to the wife of Dump Carter, formerly of this place, but now of Burnside, a boy. Our town was called to mourn the loss of one of our best citizens, Wm. Sharp. He had been suffering for some time of complication of diseases. Last Sunday morning he was taken seriously ill and passed away Sunday night. He was about 60 years old and was a loving father, husband and a devoted member of the Christian church.
