CASEY COUNTY NEWS, August 4, 1904 Munfordville, Ky. July 29. Custer Gardner was hanged in the county jail yard here Thursday morning for the murder of Esquire Osborne and son Dave Osborne. Hindman, Ky. July 29. The body of Taylor Hayne, 71 years old, a civil war veteran, was found 20 steps from Collin's distillery. He had been terribly beaten. Silas, Jasper and McClellan Collins, sons of Robert Collins, the distiller, have been arrested for the murder. Sturgis, Ky. July 29. While the 10 and 12 year old sons of Joseph Lilly were out hunting the younger was accidentally killed by the elder, since which time the latter's mind has been unbalanced from grief over the tragedy. Central City, Ky. July 29. John D. Edwards, a blacksmith at the Gish mines, three miles west of here, was killed by an engine on the Illinois Central Railroad. Frankfort, Ky. July 29. Joseph R. Robinson, aged 81, former sheriff and prominent in banking and religious circles, died here Thursday afternoon. One of his daughters, Mrs Ben Farmer lives in Chicago. Miss Bettie Ellis returned to her home at Masonville, after a month's visit to her father, J. W. Whipp, at this place. Ray Toms has been keeping batch [cooking?] the last two weeks, while Miss Ettar, his sister, is visiting at Indianapolis. Mrs. N. E. Dillingham, of Chapman, Kan., was visiting her nephew, Henry Thomas, this week. George Ellis, of Ellisburg, was visiting his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Gadberry. George A. Hendrickson, aged 65, who lived near Atterson, died last Saturday, of Kidney disease, was buried Sunday at Casey Creek. Levi Shepard, and Miss Mandy Mills, of near Rheber died last week and were buried at Salem Cemetery. William Sharp, of near Yosemite, aged 66, died last Thursday and was buried at Green River Cemetery, Friday. REv. W. G. Montgomery preached the funeral. Ruby and Bess little daughters of J. Q. Montgomery accompanied their father to South Fork, where he is holding a protracted meeting this week. Orbry, little son of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Combest, is sick of fever. Born to the wife of Basil Fleming Goode, a girl. The infant child of Madison Wethington, was laid to rest, last week, in St. Bernard's cemetery. Born to the wife of A. C. Wethington, a boy. Mrs. W.
