It has only been a few weeks since Willie started West in search of health, in company with his brother, Joe Petty and wife. But alas the death messenger has no respect of person or localities. Uncle Tom Hedger got a dispatch from Ludlow, KY Tuesday that his brother-in-law, Clem Moore, died suddenly. John Swinford, aged 73, died at his home near Pleasant Green Sunday at about midnight. He was a farmer. He was a member of the church at Boyers’ chapel. The funeral took place at the residence Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Dr. A. Redd. The interment was in the family burying ground. Mr. Swinford is survived by six grown children, Tom N., James D., and Ed. T. Swinford, Mrs. H. L. Crosthwait, Mrs. Jessie Faulconer and Mrs. Clay Whitson. Connersville Born to Mr. & Mrs. W. B. Tucker, on the 20th, a fine son. Sad indeed was the news brought by telegram Friday night to Mr. & Mrs. L. A. Petty that their son, Will, had died Friday afternoon at two o’clock in Silver City, NM where he had gone several weeks ago to try to regain his health. He was a sufferer with that dread disease, tuberculosis. His body accompanied by his brother and wife, Mr. & Mrs. Joe Petty was expected Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. It is the Pitner Lighting system and makes a very brilliant showing. It will be difficult to decide from the two sample lamps which will be the most satisfactory. Mrs. Andy Smart, who formerly lived here, died in the asylum at Lexington last Wednesday. The body was brought to this city Thursday morning and burial took place at Pythian Grove. The telephone exchange will change hands at an early date, Miss Jessie Pogue having resigned. Miss Hogue has proven to be a very popular operator and her many friends are grieved to learn her hello is no more. She is succeeded by Mrs. T. T. Earle. Mrs. Earle has had charge of the exchange in former years and an excellent service is assured. Cynthiana Democrat 27 Jan 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 18 4 Pages Pg. 1 Col. 5 PEOPLE YOU KNOW Geo. C.
