She found the watch hanging by a fob in a white oak bush. The watch was lost by Welburn Guy, of Fort Thomas, Thanksgiving Day 1907, while he was out hunting. At the time a search was made for it, but in vain. The fob caught in the bushes and it was lifted from his vest pocket. The watch was wound up and it started off running like a new time piece, after standing the weather for more than 2 ˝ years. Mr. Guy had offered a reward for the watch, but about one year ago he died. The watch will be sent to his family. Wicks, aged 40 years, died Wednesday atg the home of his mother, Mrs. Jeanette Wicks in Falmouth after one year of TB. R. C. Dilts last week removed the bodies of the Robbins family from the graveyard on the place now owned by E. S. Clarke to Riverside Cem. This as the burying ground of the family of the late Augustus Robbins and was used for the purpose for upwards to 75 years. Some of the bodies were buried in metallic coffins more than 60 years ago and were still in good state of preservation. Miller, died at her home near Piqua after a short illness, aged about 20 years. Deceased was a daughter of Mrs. Anna Wells, now of Mason County, and the late Daniel Wells, of Piqua. She is survived by her husband and three children. James W. Flora died suddenly of heart trouble at the home of his sister, Mrs. John Moore, in Ewing, aged 65 years. Deceased was a bachelor. Perry Combess died at his home last Thursday on Five Lick, of consumption, aged about 30 years. Born to the wife ob A. M. Ziglar, a girl. Mrs. Mary Ellen Wills died at her home near Piqua ages about 68 years. She was married twice and is survived by one child, Mr. Will J. Curtis, a son by her first marriage. Two grandchildren, Mr. Walter Martin and Miss Hazel Plummer, also survive. She was the sister of L. F., L. A., and L. D. Mulliken of this county and L. M. Mulliken of Lane, KS. Died at her home near Barterville, Monday, Mrs. Mary J. Thomas aged 65 years. She was the widow of James Thomas. Died at Junction City, KY, Samuel T. Gance, aged 65 years. His remains were broght here Monday night and burial took place at Saltwell Tuesday. Died at her home near Concord, Mrs. Harriet Bosley, aged 62 years. Burial at Carlisle cem. Wednesday. Mr. James Letton, died suddenly Thursday night near Jackstown. Elizabeth Lee Carr, the 8 year old daughter of Mr. &Mrs. Frank Carr, formerly of Carlisle, died in Lexington last week of colitis. W.J. Hughes, aged 70 years formerly jailer of Nicholas Co. died at the home of his son-in-law, Samuel Berry, of near Headquarters, last Tuesday and was buried in the Carlisle Cem. Wednesday. Halley, of Fayette Co. formerly of Scott Co. died suddenly. This is the third child Dr. & Mrs. Halley have lost. Cynthiana Democrat 5 May 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 32 8 Pages Pg. 7 Col. 3 Died James W. Berry, 77, familiarly known as “Uncle Jimmy” died at Berry Saturday. He graduated from Oxford College, a member of the Presbyterian Church and at one time a prominent and well-to-do citizen, having held the office of District Provost Marshall in this district during the Civil War and County Surveyor for two terms. He was a brother of the late John M. and Capt. Robert Berry, also a half brother of the late E. S. Berry. He married Miss Mary McKenney, of Fayette Co. who died some 32 years ago. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Evalyn, and three sons George G. Berry, of Wayland, TX; Dr. D. C. Berry San Antonio, TX; Dr. T. M. Berry of Hominy, OK. The remains were laid to rest beside his wife in the family burying grounds on John D. Berry’s farm, near town. – Citizen. Stephen Arnsparger, aged 87 years, died Saturday at his home in Newtown, Scott Co. after a protracted illness from infirmities incident to old age. Mr. Arnsparger is survived by three children: Mr. C. Arnsparger, of Paris; Mr. J. D. Arnsparger, of Scott Co. and Mrs. T. Porter Smith, of Los Angeles, CA. Mr. Alex Oder one of Scott County’s oldest citizens, passed away Tuesday at the home of Sam Miller, in Payne Addition, aged 91 years. “Uncle Alec” was born in Harrison Co. but moved to this county at an early age,where he has since resided. He served as magistrate from Newtown precinct for twelve years, and was afterwards elected assessor of the county, which posiion he filled for twenty years. He is survived by his wife, who is in her 88th year - Georgetown News. The funeral took place at Leesburg yesterday. Burial at Jacksonville. His wife was formerly Miss Emily Baird. He was a member of the Methodist Church for over 50 years. A few weeks ago he sent for his nephew, Rev. Alex Penn, and made all arrangements for his funeral. Mrs. Lizzie Brent Marshall formerly of Paris, died at her home in Covington on Saturday. She was the eldest daughter of Chas. Brent, of Paris, and a sister of Mrs. Belle Alexander. Mrs. Dorcas Ryles, aged 64, died near Jacksonville, Sunday. She is survived by four sons and two daughters. Burial at Jacksonville. Rogers, a minister of the Christian Church, our pastor but a few years ago, fell dead Thursday, 28th April at his home at Walton, KY. He was a bachelor. Howard Fitzwater and Clara Beckett went to Mt. Olivet Sunday to get married. Rev. Hostetter performed the ceremony. They were accompanied by Mr. & Mrs. Lyman Bradford, Pearl Holland and Ora Price, Grover Beckett and Verna Price, all of Sunrise vicinity. Miss Lizzie Browning, who has been with her aunts, Miss Rachael Cobb and Mrs. Lizzie Cain, since the death of her grandmother Cobb, returned to her home at Poindexter Sunday with her father, A. J. She was to have been married within the next few days to Mr. Moore, a widower well known here. Mrs. Ben Beckham, aged 70, died near Sadieville. A son and two daughters survive, Bud Beckham, Mrs. Wm. Burton and Mrs. Buford Kemper. Born to the wife of Henry Craig, of Sadieville, nee Miss Mamie Davis, a daughter - first born.
