He was 72 years old and the father of a large family of 7 children, 4 boys and 3 girls. Survived by wife and the 7 children. Mrs. John M. McDaniel is the youngest daughter. Pall bearers were his grandsons: Wesley and Willie McDaniel, Willis Moss and Kellar VanHook, Garland and Wade Reynolds. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. Mrs. Motie Levi Fleming died at her home in Georgetown, Saturday. She was born and raised in Connersville. She was the youngest of 7 children: the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Morten Levi, who passed away several weeks ago. Survived by husband and a son and the 6 brothers and sisters (not named). The papers have been passed on at this sitting, so we cannot give names of the successful ones. The examination for white teachers will be held at the City school on Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21. Seventeen applicants successfully passed the examination for Common School diplomas last Friday and Saturday. Miss Lillie Pribble and Mr. Robert Cummins, both of this county were quietly married last Wednesday. He was a son of Mrs. Anna Thornton of Paris. He was engaged in railroad building in the west. C. J. McDaniel, aged 58 years, a prominent farmer residing near Paris died Wednesday. He was native of Montgomery Co. and son of the late Harvey McDaniel. He was married to Miss Eliza Prather who survives with three children: Woodford McDaniel, Holt McDaniel and Miss Sarah McDaniel. Mr. Frank Toohey, aged 44, died in Lexington at St. Joseph’s hospital of appendicitis. He resided in Mt. Sterling and formerly of Paris. Survived by wife, formerly miss Rosa Goodman, and two sons, William and Marbert Toohey and one brother, John Toohey of Paris. Samuel Stitt died at his home on Maysville pike, 2 ½ miles from Carlisle last Friday, aged about 47 years. Buried in Carlisle Cem. TB was the cause of death. Born to wife of Taylor Manier on the 7th, a son. Born to wife of Robert Reffitt on the 7th, a son. Born to wife of J. A. Ford on the 5th, a son. Born to wife of Logan Anderson, a daughter. Cynthiana Democrat 19 May 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 34 8 Pages Pg. 7 Col. 3 Deaths Mrs. Amanda Johnson died at the home of her son, W. F. Johnson, on Mill Street in the city on Tuesday. She was 90 years old on 11 April. Burial at Oddville. Mrs. Motie Fleming, wife of E. T. Fleming, died at her home on North Broadway Saturday night of Spinal Meningitis. Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Levi and four sisters and two brothers: Mrs. J. W. Boyd and Mr Lucius Levi of Cynthiana; Mrs. Neal Fightmaster, Mrs. R. C. Smith, Ms. Kate Lemon and Brack Levi of Connersville. Burial in Georgetown Cem. Son of Mr. & Mrs. R. N. Wilson of Lansing, Mich. died. Remains will be brought here for funeral at residence of Mrs. N. B. Wilson. Born Tuesday to Mr. & Mrs. Jess McKee, a son. To Mr. & Mrs. Will Slade of Breckenridge, a son. Cynthiana Democrat 19 May 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 34 8 Pages Pg. 7 Col. 4 Mr. W. M. Tucker has received a Helena, Mont. newspaper giving a brief account of the drowning of his brother P. D. Tucker, at Hauser Lake Dam on Sunday 1 May. The unfortunate man who was an electrician employed in the work of the dam, was in a scow with five other men when the scow sank. The other men were rescued but Tucker could not swim. He was 54 years old and is survived by his wife. Cynthiana Democrat 19 May 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 34 8 Pages Pg. 7 Col. 5 James Duckworth, age 76, was found dead in the barn on his place, near Beaver Baptist, Saturday last. He had hanged himself with a halter. Funeral and burial at Beaver Baptist. Survived by wife and two children. About twenty years ago his brother, David, hanged himself. Taylor who died in Milford May 3 and was buried at Beaver Baptist on the 5th, leaves three children: Johnnie living at Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Fannie Smith, of Worth Branch, Kansas and Miss Luc Taylor, who still lives with her mother in Milford and is a very popular clerk in the store of Everett Moore and for some years taught school in the public schools.
