Funeral was held at Sunrise, Monday and burial took place at the Blackburn grave yard near Havilandsville. Mrs. Nancy Moore, wife of R. H. Moore, died at her home near Oxford Saturday for the infirmities of old age having reached the age of 79. She had been married 53 years and a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church since childhood. Miss Margaret Davies, aged 35, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Charles Davenport, in Georgetown, Sunday of typhoid fever. She was a cousin of Mrs. D. L. Cobb, of this city, and Mrs. F. W. Fletcher, of Lexington and H. C. Patterson of Broadwell. She is survived by two sisters and a brother, Irving Davies. Mrs. Bettie Terry, widow of Thos. Terry and daughter of Elijah Moss, died at Paris, Monday. Jacob L. Embry, 68, died at the home of his son-in-law, Enoch Grehan, at Lexington. Religious There are 42 churches in Harrison county in which services are held every Sunday. Born to wife of John Schutter, a fine 10-lb son. Born to wife of John A. Woodhead in Falmouth, twin sons, weighing 8 pounds each. E. J. Race, formerly of Falmouth, died at Covington. CARLISLE DIES IN NEW YORK CITY AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS Distinguished Kentuckian John Griffin Carlisle, who represented the Sixth KY district in Congress a number of terms, was Speaker of the House and Secretary of the Treasury, died at his apartments in New York City after a critical illness of two days. He died from heart failure. Harrison Co. was in the Sixth District when he served. He as born 5 Sep 1835 in Kenton Co. Mr. Carlisle’s two sons died when young men. Burgess, nee Cason, a 12 pound boy. Died on the 27th at the home of her father, Mr. John Bailey, near Finnell, Miss Nannie Bailey, with consumption, aged about 16 years. Burial in Gilead cemetery. Born on the 30th in Georgetown, to the wife of Herbert Beysing, nee Mattie Lee Barkley, formerly of this place a 10-pound girl. Cynthiana Democrat 4 Aug 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 45 6 Pages Pg. 6 Col. 3 News notes Harry Musselman, white boy 17 years old, suicided at the Reform School at Lexington by hanging. He was from Breckinridge county. At Benton, IL in the presence of Edith Newton, a 16 year girl, her father, James Newton and her suitor Singleton Isom, fought a fatal pistol duel, resulting in Newton’s death. Roger Hanson Pryor, 47, Fayette Co. was shot and killed by his tenant, Jason Walker Bently, Sunday. Pryor is survived by wife and grown daughter.
