His wife was formerly Miss Nellie Lampton. The Dr. was 72 years old. The London High Court fined the Evening News of that city $1,000 for contempt of court for the printing of a story of H. H. Crippen’s alleged plot to escape from the steamer Montrose. Ethel Clare Leneve since her acquittal in the Crippen–Elmore murder case in London, has received 16 offers of marriage. While riding a motor cycle at the rate of seventy miles per hour at the Dallas, TX fair grounds, Wade Wylie, 20 years old, was thrown from the machine and killed. Dr. W. F. Scott of Somerset, a brother-in-law of Senator W. O. Bradley, and one of the best known physicians in Eastern KY, died at Somerset last week. Dr. Scott was superintendent of the Lexington Asylum during the Bradley administration, and was the father of Ethelbert Scott, who was killed by the late D. G. Colson in the lobby of the Capitol Hotel at Frankfort. Charles Little, sentenced to death for the murder of Mat Crawford in Breathit County, is preparing a motion for a new trial and says his confession was forced. Raymond Coch, aged 28 years, of Paris, France, was killed and Phil Wells was seriously injured in the auto races at the Dallas, TX State fair grounds Friday. Coch’s death was the third that occurred since the fair started. At Spencer, NC, Mrs. Henry Morris, wife of a farmer, fainted while holding a baby in her arms and fell into an open fireplace. Mother and babe were burned to death. When an examiner visited the Weir State Bank, at Georgetown, TX, Monday, Cashier J. L. Lester committed suicide by stabbing himself in the throat with a knife. The financial condition of the bank has not been announced. Stephen Jones gave up his life at Lynn, MASS, to save three children from being run down by an express train. Mrs. Robert Collier’s baby, at Owensboro, was smothered by being accidentally shut up in a folding bed. Willmot, wife of Robert S. Willmot, a prominent farmer of Bourbon County, died at their home near Jacksonville, Friday 28 Oct. Burial in Jacksonville Cem. She was the daughter of the late David Allen. She married Mr. Willmot in 1895. She is survived by two brothers: Clay and David Allen. Also by three sisters: Mrs. A. J. Skillman, Mrs. J. M. Boyers, and Mrs. J. Newt. Ammerman. She was member of the Christian Church and was age 67. Wesley Warnock, died at Butler, MO on 5 Oct. He was born in Greenup Co. in 1818. He married Frances Milner in 1860 and was the father of six sons and six daughters. Seven of the children are living. He united with the Union Christian Church in 1862 under the ministry of Elder John A. Gano. All the triplets recently born to Mrs. S. D. Miller, near Lexington, are dead. One died soon after birth and the other two died Sunday. The body of Mrs. Fanny Wood, who died at her home at Kansas City Wednesday was buried in the Millersburg Cem. She was formerly Miss McClintock and her early life was spent around Millersburg. Mrs. J. W. Elliott, aged 36, died at the home of her husband at Antioch, Sunday. She was formerly Miss Cummins. She is survived by husband and six children. Mrs. James N. Kehoe, died at her home in Maysville last week after a long illness. She is survived by husband and six children. John Tate, died Sunday at his home on Peacock pike near Paris of dropsy. He was 78 years old, son of the late Francis and Katie Smith Tate, one of 15 children, he having three half-sisters, seven half-brothers and four full kin. Of the four full kin, Mr. James Tate, of Shawhan, is the only survivor. He was born in Harrison Co. And moved to Bourbon at age 7. In 1858 he married Mrs. Patsy Allen, a daughter of John and Ursula Kiser, who preceded him several years ago. They had one child, Mrs. George Current, Kiserton, who survives. – Bourbon News. Mr. William O. Wilson aged about 55, died Friday at his home near Morningglory. Burial in Millersburg cem. Thomas Rankin, a venerable and highly respected citizen of this city, died at his home on Walnut Street, Monday. Funeral at the Methodist Church and burial in Battle Grove. Born on a farm in this county on 11 July 1828. He married Miss Ellen Bean, of this county, on 26 Feb 1856. Four children were born: Matilda, Sarah, Joseph and James. Wife and all children except Matilda, survive. Joseph Rankin resides at Crawfordsville, IN and was called here by his father’s death. Mr. & Mrs. Rankin spent all their married life in this county except about seven years, from 1858-1865, when they resided in Illinois. Joined the Methodist Church in 1874.
