Ellis died at his home at the Columbia Hotel, in this city, Monday. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church with burial in Battle Grove. He was born in Pendleton Co. 25 Jan 1847. He was married Feb. 1880. He moved to Cynthiana in 1894. Survived by wife, a son and a daughter, Jesse and Daisy. There are several brothers who reside in other counties or in distant states. Mr. John W. Shannon died at Harrison Hospital yesterday morning. Funeral was held in the Presbyterian Church in Millersburg with burial in the cemetery of that town. He would have been 60 years old next August. His wife died about two years ago and was formerly Miss Mary Patton, sister of Mrs. Sallie Turney of this city. One son, Charles, survives. Mr. J. C. Redd, aged about 70 died at his home near Renaker Sunday from pneumonia. Buried in Pythian Grove with Masonic honors. His wife and son, B. Redd survive. He is the brother of S. B. Redd. Member of the Mullen Lodge F. & A. M. Payton F. Dudley, 84, fell dead at his home in Flemingsburg on Sunday. Mrs. Zeralda VanHook died at the home of her son, C. E. VanHook on 16 March. She was formerly Miss Ashcraft. Born May 1837 thus nearly age 73. Married James H. VanHook who died about 4 years ago. Three sons and two daughters survive: Rolla and Chalres E. VanHook of this city; T. F. of Alberta, Canada; Mrs. Everett Allen of this county and Mrs. Oscar Herrington, of Washburn, Wis. Burial in Battle Grove. (Two more children named in 31 Mar 1910 paper, following.) George Redmon died Saturday at his home in Charleston, WV of Bright’s disease. He was in his 71st year and son of W. T. & Sallie Lair Redmon of Bourbon. Julius Coleman was reported last week as age 75 when in fact he was 79 when he died. He was born in Pendleton Co. Woolery and nephew of James Davis Woolery, of this county, died at the home of his parents in Covington on Saturday last of pneumonia and measles. Mrs. Margaret Record age 84, widow of Luther Record died. Mrs. George W. Armstrong age 56, died. Carlos Pierce Jones age 5 son of Newell P. Jones died. Adjoining counties Bourbon Co. The 3 year old daughter of Mr. &Mrs. Lloyd Frakes, residing near Escondida died from the effects of burns on Wednesday. Adjoining counties Nicholas Co. Born to wife of H. M. Potts Thursday 17th March a daughter, Roberta Cleon. Adjoining counties Scott Co. Baby of Mr. & Mrs. John Mullen, month old, died on way to doctors on Sunday. Mrs. Clara Sparks, aged 57 years died at her home on Clayton avenue Tuesday of pneumonia. She leaves a son, Willie Sparks and a sister, Mrs. R. T. Herndon. Charles Johnson died at his home in Payne Addition of TB age 24 years. Survived by young wife. Adjoining Counties Robertson Co. John W. Insko of Mayslick died on Thursday of last week and was buried at McKendree Chapel near Bridgevil. He was son of Joseph Insko and cousin on his mother’s side to Marshal Poe, of Mt. Olivet. A widow and five children survive. Adjoining counties Grant Co. Mrs. Henry Lowe died at Keefer. Cynthiana Democrat 24 Mar 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 26 8 Pages Pg. 2 Col. 5 Death Clears mystery of Twenty Years Edward Mulcahy, who left Family in KY dies in Illinois Augusta, KY - News has just reached here of the death of Edward Mulcahy, near Springfield, IL. Mulcahy married a Miss Mary Danahe here in 1874, to which union four daughters were born, his wife dying when the children were young, two of whom were placed in convents and two, Misses Nora Agnes and Bridget Mulcahy, are residents of Augusta. Mulcahy disappeared and was not heard of by his relatives for twenty years. He went to Illinois, married, became superintendent of the Sangamon County Infirmary, and had been with that institution for the last twelve years. But in all that time he never mentioned a family in KY. On Feburary 11, 1910, Mulcahy’s wife died and two days later he died, both being buried in the same grave. The daughters in Augusta sent Attorney Hargett to Illinois to ascertain the amount of the estate he left and found $5,000 in personal property which will go to the children of his first marriage, as none were born to the second union. Cynthiana Democrat 24 Mar 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 26 8 Pages Pg. 5 Col. 3 Claysville Fielding Griffith, father of Mrs. Eliza Walker, died at his home at Parina, Bracken Co. on Tuesday, March 16 and was buried in the family gravcyard there the following day. He was 76 years old. Mrs. Walker and daughters, Maude and Lillie, went to Parina Monday and returned home on Thursday. The little miss that came to gladden the home of Mr. & Mrs. Willie Conner, Feby. 28th, the first after nine years of married life, has two grandfathers and two grand mothers, the latter taking week about staying with Mrs. and Miss Conner. This being grandmother Warrick’s week she came up from Milford, Saturday afternoon. Cynthiana Democrat 24 Mar 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 26 8 Pages Pg. 6 Col. 4 Connersville Died Saturday morning, March 19, Julius G. Coleman. He had suffered several weeks from paralysis. Age about 75 years. He was born and reared in Kentucky and fought under the stars and stripes in the Civil War, a private in Co. F 18th Regiment of Kentucky volunteer Infantry. Julius Coleman was a man worthy and honest, cheerful and kindhearted. He leaves one daughter and several grandchildren to mourn his loss, his wife having died one year ago in April. Short funeral services at his grandson’s John Carr’s where he made his home and burial took place at Beard’s cemetery. Mrs. White was formerly Miss Grace Ridgeway of Falmouth. To Mr. & Mrs. Joe Gassser, a daughter, weight 10 pounds. To Mr. & Mrs. Thos Keller, at Lair, a daughter. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at Renaker Monday. Burial was in Pythian Grove.
