A new street light for thirty days trial has been erected on Main street and has proven very satisfactory. The light is very brillant and throws a reflection quite a distance. The light system is something all Berry is proud of and several others have been installed. The folks in town can no longer say "I'm afraid to go home in the dark." John Lyter, an excellent citizen, died at his home at Robinson, Saturday. Burial took place at Pythian Grove Cem. Cynthiana Democrat 13 Jan 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 16 6 Pages Pg. 4 Col. 5 Deaths Mr. John H. Blair, aged 82, died Thursday at the home of his niece, Mrs. Herbert Grannis, in Fleming County, near Ewing. He was a native of Fleming Co. and conducted a hotel in Ewing for a number of years. Two years ago he removed with his wife to Cynthiana where they resided until the death of his wife a few months ago. The remains were brought to Cynthiana on the noon train Saturday and buried by the side of Mrs. Blair in Battle Grove Cem. Mrs. Annie Fields, wife of Isaac Field, sister of Dr. R. H. Lang, died at her home near Kelat, Saturday morning. She was married twice, her first husband being the late William Pigg, who died suddenly a number of years ago. She is survived by several sons and one daughter. Funeral and burial at Conrey, Monday. Mr. S. A. Rice, a prominent farmer of Nicholas Co. died last Friday a this home near Carlisle. Mrs. W. D. Howe, formerly Miss Secrest, wife of Dr. W. D. Howe, died suddenly at Carlisle. John M. Lyter, a well known farmer of Robinson neighborhood died Saturday. The funeral took place Monday and burial in Pythian Grove Cem. at Berry. Mrs. Fannie Morris, widow of Willis Morris, formerly of Cynthiana died in Floriday. The remains were brought to Morgan, KY for burial on Tuesday. Mr. Benjamin Thurston, well known here and in Central Kentucky, died at Cincinnati Jan 4th where he had long lived. His mother kept the famous Thurston House at Paris for many years prior to the Civil War, where the family was well known and esteemed. After the war the sons kept the old Madison House on Main Street, Cincinnati, near the river, which was much frequented by Kentucky people. United States Senator Garrett Davis, a citizen of Paris, always stayed at Mrs. Thruston's while in the city, going to and from the National Capital. Mr. Thurston was aged seventy one years and was buried in Cincinnati.
