Cynthiana Democrat 3 Mar 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 23 6 Pages Pg. 1 Col. 5 Claysville Bettie, wife of Joe Kinney, died at her home in Cincinnati, Friday and was buried at Oddville, Sunday. Being raised near Claysville she was well and favorably known. Her maiden name was Lang. Mrs. Millie Morgan died at the Kentucky Eastern Asylum Sunday. J. K. Six was notified and went immediately for the remains. She has three children in the Deaf and Dumb Institute at Danville and two that are not deaf and dumb here. A little boy lives with his aunt Mrs. Arnold, and comes to the Claysville school. Harry Williams and Anna Asbury visited her grand-mother, Mrs. T. J. Langley, last Sunday. Mayme Davis and Ora Pugh, of Pugh's Ferry, spent from Friday till Sunday evening in Claysville. Mayme with her mother, Mrs. Charles Hitch, and Ora with his cousin, Quincy Moore. Hope by Bro. Redd, Wednesday. Robinson Miss Minnie Cummins, our efficient nurse, was called to Cynthiana to take charge of a patient there. Cynthiana Democrat 3 Mar 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 23 6 Pages Pg. 2 Col. 8 Mrs. Arthur Wilson drowned in Eagle Creek, Grant County, by jumping from a boat which sprung a leak. Her husband jumped after her but was unable to save her, he says. Others say he and his wife did not get along well together and that he preferred another woman. Cynthiana Democrat 3 Mar 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 23 6 Pages Pg. 5 Col. 4 Deaths Sanford Talbott, 95 years and 4 months old, died at his home near North Middletown, Bourbon Co. last Friday. In the neighborhood where he was born, John W. Skillman lived to be 96 years of age; John H. Marks, 91; and John W. Marks, who still survives is 91. Messrs. Skillman, marks and Talbott have died within the past six months.. E. E. Peck, former representative and a well known citizen, died at Sharpsburg, Friday, aged 72. Mrs. Hester A. Cooper, aged 72, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.H. Lowry, at Nicholasville, Monday, from general debility. She was the widow of Rev. B. D. Cooper, at one time pastor of the Cynthiana Methodist Church. She is survived by several children, one of whom is Mr. C. A. Cooper, who married Miss Mary Oxley, of this city. Mrs. Sallie Ewalt Moore, widow of Dr. Noah S. Moore, died at Paris, Monday, in her 80th year. She is survived by four sons and five daughters (not named). She was an aunt by marriage of Dr. N. W. Moore, of Cynthiana. Mrs. Jos. Kinney, nee Lang, died in Cincinnati Friday from consumption. Burial took place at Oddville, Sunday. Mrs. Addie Hieatt, wife of S. N. Hieatt, died at Mt. Olivet on 23 Feb. She was formerly Miss Routt, of this county. She leaves husband and five children (not named); also three sisters and four brothers: L. D. , J. W., T. W. and W. F. Routt: Mrs. Marie Smith of this city, Mrs. Jas, Hieatt, Robertson Co. and Mrs. Jeff Kiser, of Bourbon Co. Leonard Humphrey, aged about 35, died at his home near Cynthiana on the Lair Pike, Tuesday from tuberculosis. Survived by wife and three children (not named). Burial at Curry. Judge Henry H. Haviland died at his home in this city yesterday, Wednesday. He had been suffering from infirmities of age for some time and for the past few weeks his condition had been critical. He was in his 85th year. Judge Haviland was born in Havilandsville, this county. His parents were Robert S. and Mary Stewart Haviland. There were 9 children of whom only one survives, William S. Haviland who resides near Cynthiana and is in his 87th year. Judge Haviland is survived by a daughter, Miss Sidonia Haviland. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral took place at his residence on East Pike St. on Friday with burial in Battle Grove. Cynthiana Democrat 3 Mar 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 23 6 Pages Pg. 6 Col. 1 Kelat Miss Ethyl Sellers has gone to Wilmore where she will stay with Mrs. H. C. Morrison and will probably accompany her to Mississippi. Mr. James Roberts has taken charge of the Infirmary. We are sorry to lose him. Several of our good citizens have lately gone to the poor house. Miss Ehtel Whitaker has left our neighborhood and gone to stay with Mrs. James Roberts, being the first to leave this community for protection of the Infirmary. She is survived by husband and five children, several brothers and sisters of whom we might name a few: T. W. Routt of this place, William and Mrs. Smith of Cynthiana, Mrs. James Hieatt of Claysville, Mrs. Kiser of Bourbon Co. Burial in Mt. Olivet Friday.
