Reynolds, Jr. and Miss Elizabeth Dickey, both of this city pleasantly surprised thier friends, Monday, by their marriage at Lexington. Bride is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John W. Dickey. Mr. Reynolds is the son of Mr. J. T. Reynolds, the well known dry goods merchant. Rogers - Miller The Times-Star, Saturday, gives account of the marriage of Barton Rogers, son of Mrs. Ida Barton Ryan: "The wedding of Barton Rogers. 3578 Zumstein Avenue, Hyde Park, and Miss Dorothy Miller of Ft. Thomas, in Hamilton, was the result of their mutual desire to forestall plans for an elaborate ceremony in December. The pair with Misses Mary Foster and Nell Vandervoort, of Covington and David Anderson of Cynthiana, KY took an automobile ride to Hamilton, and the ceremony was performed there by Rev. A. B. Austin. They previously obtained a license in Cincinnati. Mr. Rogers is a extensive owner of Kentucky farm land and is engaged in business in Cincinnati. His bride is popular in the over-the-river society circles." Deaths Mrs. Alice Lacey died Tuesday in Cynthiana. Buried in Battle Grove. Her son, Charlie, is will be remembered was shot and killed many years ago by a Negro man whom he as a special policeman was trying to arrest. Daughter of Robert and Emily Lindsey Thompson. Born in Harrison Co. 12 March 1847. Her sister, Mrs. Kennard died on 29 May last. Norris Mr. John Norris died at his home in Chicago, Sunday night from the infirmities of age. He was about 76 years old. Mr. Norris was born in Ireland, but came to this country in his early years. He resided in Harrison County until about fifteen years ago, when he removed to Chicago. He was twice married. His second wife survives and there are seven surviving chldren. Mrs. James Linehan, of this county is a daughter. (Other children not named.) Buried in St. Edward's Cem. William Arnold, infant son of Charles Arnold died Sunday. Burial at Barlow. S. T. Linley died (See Claysville Items.) Cynthiana Democrat Thurs 20 Jul 1911 Vol. 43 No. 43 Pg. 1 Col. 3 Scotty Rich Again A Western Paper says: Walter Scott, otherwise known as Scotty of Death Valley, the may who created a sensation several years ago when he hired a special train and tried to break the record from the Pacific to the Atlantic coast, is again rich. He appeared in Goldfield, NV, loaded with money, although three months ago he was dead broke in Reno. He displayed $11,000 in currency and promises to reveal the location of his alleged fabulous wealth after August 1st. Scott says he intends to make another whirlwind dash across the country in a special train. This special train will be his last appearance in the public eye, he declares. Scotty is the son of Mr. George A. Scott, of Harrison Co. Cynthiana Democrat Thurs 20 Jul 1911 Vol. 43 No. 43 Pg. 2 Col. 3 Our Neighbors Grant Co. William Homer Kennon, died near Sherman. Mrs. Margaret A. Smith age 78 died. Bourbon Co. W. M. Hamilton, age 79 died at Millersburg. Mrs. Geo. Mitchell, age 75 died. The first wedding to occur in the beautiful new Methodist Church was that of Mr. John I. Bronson of Jacksonville, FL and Miss Nancy Wilson of Paris, the ceremony being performed by Rev. O. B. Crockett. At the cathedral in Covington, Mr. John B. Mackey son of Mr. & Mrs. Sm Mackey, of Paris, and Miss Mary Agnes Shannon, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Timothy S. Shannon, who live on Ruddles Mills pike were united in marriage by Rev. Father Brossard. The attendants were Miss Sue Jordon, of Paris, and Mr. James Lynch, of Newport Pendleton Co. Richard Fryer, 78, died at Shelbyville, IN Mrs. Ann Perry, age 83 died Married, Miss Maude Hathaway and Chas. Wilson; Miss Jalie Youngman and Arthur Ramey Born to wife of P. Middleton, a son Robertson Co. Benjamin H. Fields, aged 21, son of Willis Fields, of near Mt. Hor, Bracken county, and Miss Anna May Marsh, aged 17, daughter of J. H. Marsh, of this county were married in Brooksville Sunday July 9th by Rev. P. T. Cook. Elijah Jenkins, a civil war veteran and former citizen of this county was married to Mrs. Jennie Jacobs, of Covington, 7th inst. The nuptial knot being tied by Eld. Samuel Foley at his home in Falmouth. Second marriage for both. Nicholas Co. Henry Clay Crump, died near Winchester, formerly of Nicholas Co. Born to wife of Lee Taul, a son. Cynthiana Democrat Thurs 20 Jul 1911 Vol. 43 No. 43 Pg. 4 Col. 3 Kentontown Distressing accident - Last Thursday morning the youngest child of Mr. & Mrs. Frank Nicholas while at play swallowed a bean, which became lodged in the windpipe. Dr. Thompson was called but could render no assistance. Mr. Nicholas too the child to the hospital at Cynthiana, where doctors failed to relieve the little one's suffering. Friday morning Dr. N. W. Moore of Cynthiana and Dr. Carr of Claysville were hastily summoned to make the last attempt to save its life. They at once began an operation which the little one did not survive, it dying on the operating table. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to Mr. & Mrs. Nichols., as this is the second child they have lost in the last four or five months. Cynthiana Democrat 20 Jul 1911 Vol. 43 No. 43 Pg. 4 Col. 4 Selma Godman family reunion and unveiling of Godman monument took place at Godman cemetery near Mt. Zion, on Friday July 14, 1911. The monument erected is one of the best that now stands in the western part of the county and erected in memory of late James and Susanah Godman. There were 20 of the Godman family present and witnessed the unveiling of that handsome monument after which a bountiful dinner was spread beneath the beautiful shade. All of which was much enjoyed. The Godman family is among the best in Harrison County. Cynthiana Democrat Thurs 20 Jul 1911 Vol. 43 No. 43 Pg. 7 Col. 3 Claysville Samuel Timoleon Linley, born in Fleming County, April 15, 1833, died in Claysville July 13, 1911 age 78 years, 2 months and 28 days. He was a member of Thomas Ware Lodge F. & A. M. At Claysville since 1872; an elder in the Christian Church since its erection and when able was never absent from the meetings of either or from Sunday School, of which he was assistant superintendent. Three sisters, Mrs. Jane Teagar and Mrs. Elizabeth Teagar, Puget Sound and Mrs.. Emma Ashcraft, of Cynthiana and four of his children living are: Mrs. Minnie Gilligan, Covington, Mrs. Mar Haley and Sam T. Linley Jr., Claysville and Carroll D. Linley, Cynthiana. For some thirty years Mr. Linley lived in Claysville in the home in which he died. He was a first class blacksmith and took pride in his work and as long as he was able would be in the shop with his son, Sam, so succeeds him in the business and popularity. A great grandchild, Clyde, son of Claud Linley, was buried in Battle Grove in Cynthiana last week. We are not only in sympathy with the family of Mr. Linley but with ourselves as well, at the removal of our friends and brother in the church from among us. Mrs. Minnie Gilligan and daughter, Miss Violet, returned to their home in Covington, Sunday. They had been here some days at the bedside of her father, S. T. Linley. The sister, children and grand-children of the late S. T. Linley, wish to express through the Democrat their sincere thanks to friends for their assistance and sympathy during his sickness, death and burial. To Brother Ellis, to the choir, the Masons and the Claysville Band for words of consolation and the music which he always enjoyed, and to the Sunday School children for the flowers he so dearly loved, and to Mr. Frisbe for his gently touch in arranging our loved one for that beautiful home to which he has gone and where we all hope to meet him in the sweet by and by. Born to wife of Billie Hitch, a son, Marcus Keffer, the first boy. To the wife of Hays Turner, a boy. To the wife of Willie Stivers, twin daughters, and to the wife of Sam McClain,, July 15, a daughter. Lillian, daughter of Andy and Nannie Case of Barlow and Letton Curtis, of Robertson County, skipped out Sunday night to get married. He has been in the regular army for four years. Cynthiana Democrat Thurs 20 Jul 1911 Vol. 43 No. 43 Pg. 7 Col. 4 Oxford Mrs. Lavenia Raymond, youngest daughter of Ashby M. Anderson, died on the 8th inst. at her home in Independence, Missouri, with consumption. She was a prodigy in music an da great favorite with her father. Her death is a terrible shock to him. Renaker Born on the 16th, to the wife of William Furnish, a daughter.
