Mr. Oscar HOLDER and Miss Minnie SULZER, prominent young people of the Green Hill country, were married last Thursday. Mr. Clairborne HELM, of the Green Hill neighborhood, Tracy precinct, lost his tobacco barn and about $200 worth of tobacco last Friday night. The fire is thought to have been the work of an incendiary. Prof. J M HAGAN, Principal of the Tompkinsville Normal School,has accepted a lucrative position in the revenue service, and resigned his position in the Normal school. Professor S B RAY succeeds him. Lewis BALTIMORE, a Seymour, Hart county Negro, had his hand badly torn by the explosion of an old, heavily-charged musket Christmas morning. The member was so badly injured that it was amputated above the wrist. Henry SUMMERS, who met with the misfortune of having both of his lower limbs severed by a moving train at this place November 9 last, is now able to be up, and would have attended church last Sunday had the weather been agreeable (Sonora Correspondent, ELizabethtown News). George JAMES, the most popular conductor on the L&N and as clever a gentlemen as ever donned a railroad uniform, has been promoted from the Bowling Green accomodation to a fast passenger-train with increased salary. The many friends of Mr. James in Glasgow will rejoice to hear of his good fortune, but will regret to lose him from the Bowling Green accomodation, where he was a universal favorite. Fielding HOGAN, a notorious character of the Cave City country, was lodged in jail here a day or two ago. Hogan was put in the Cave City lock-up, and came near burning the building down and himselp up, in his efforts to get out. He was then brought here and turned over to Jailer CARTER's care, where he will probably languish until the next grand-jury looks after his attempts to burn the jail. The Beckton correspjondent of the Warren County Couriers says: "Miss Nellie LYONS and Mr. Tom EMBERTON went to Jeffersonville last Wednesday and were married. Miss Lyons is a young lady who possesses a great deal of beauty and is one of old Barren's most popular young ladies. She is the daughter of Tom Lyons and a sister of Mrs. Wm ALLEN. The groom is a thriving merchant at PROCTOR's Cave and is highly recommended as a gentleman. They will begin housekeeping at once in their new home at Proctor's Cave."
