Whitley Pg. 4 Col. 4 New School Building Now Ready (Picture) The next session of the City School will open in the handsome new school building next Monday, January 6. This elegant building contains 34 rooms, including a large auditorium and stage, play room in basement, toilet rooms, etc, and is heated thoroughly by furnaces. The total coast of the building is about $52,000 which is a much lower price than was asked by some of the contractors. Although there has been some delay, the building is worth much more than it has cost the city, and should be a source of great pride in every citizen of Cynthiana. Cynthiana's City School has for years been considered one of the best in the state and in the commodious new quarters should maintain well her deserved reputation. They had eight children: two sons and six daughters Mr. Veach Whalen, Mrs. Julia Price, and Mrs. Ida Holland survive her. Her husband and five children having preceded her. Ora Bowles age 33 brother of Thos. Bowles of Cynthiana d. Paris of typhoid fever last week. Survived by wife, formerly Miss Jimmie Alice Evans and an infant daughter. Wm. S. McChesney dies at Passadena, FL, Monday age 82 years. b. Cynthiana 1826. ____ Early age moved to Lexington _____ he has since resided. He has ______ very prominent citizen, having ______ --derman and Postmaster. Lang returned Tuesday after a very pleasant visit with Mrs. Lang's mother, Mrs. Sallie Cummins, and other relatives at Covington. J. T. Cannon returned from Boston, last Friday, where he has been looking after his turkey trade. This week he has killed and dressed sixty head of fine hogs, most of which he fed on his clover bottom farm. Pg. 5 Col. 4 Richland Little Alice Lang is on the sick list. Aunt Amanda Whiteker is ill at this writing Mr. & Mrs. Geo. Criswell and daughter Rosa were the guests of Joe Beckett and family at Avena Saturday. Rev. Jessie Criswell and Alfred Mullen are holding a revival at Barlow. Pg. 6 Col. 2 A Christmas tree entertainment was given at the home of Mr. Willis Criswell which was enjoyed by all present. Dr. R. H. Lang will make a business trip to Chicago next week. Mr(s). E. C. Lang and grandchildren, Mayme and Lang Green, returned Sunday after a pleasant visit with her daughter, Mr(S). A. T. Carr of Sunrise. A. M. Carr has bought the barber shop from P. E. Hill. Joe Dunn will take charge of the shop every Saturday. Don't forget services at Benson Sunday, by our pastor, Rev. E. K. Pike. Jesse Criswell, who is attending Bible College at Wilmore, came home for the holidays and conducted a week's meeting at Barlow. Jesse is making fine progress at school and the wishes of all are that he will make a bright and shining light in the vineyard of the Master. Carlos M. Whitaker, one of our Kelat boys, will leave this week for Wilmore to attend school, and will also instruct a class of thirty members is band music. Carlos is a deserving young man and the best wishes of all his friends for his success in his noble undertaking follow him.
