Mrs. Richard Brand, died of heart failure at the family residence near Broadwell, last Saturday, at the age of 74 years. She was formerly Miss Fannie Hendricks, daughter of C. F. Hendricks, and married Mr. Brand 44 years ago. Joined Baptist Church. She is survived by five brothers and three sisters, and leaves one daughter, Mrs. Fannie Dills, of Kansas, and three sons, Dr. Lester Brand, of Maysville, Prof. Edward Brand of Georgia and Keller A. Brand. Burial at Jacksonville. Mr. A. I. Pope, a well known citizen of near Sylvan Dell, died last Saturday. He is survived by one sister, Miss Rachel Pope, and a brother Haden Pope. Funeral and burial at Republican, Monday. Moses E. Nichols, aged about 70 years, suddenly died of heart disease in Scott Co., Sunday. He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Mattie Lightburn, of Donerail. He leaves four children, Mrs. Annie McClintock, William, Nannie and Mary Nichols. He leaves two brothers, Chas. B. Nichols of Fayette Co., and Dan Nichols of Cincinnati. Miss Annie May Whalen on Feb. 26 is noted in the Sunrise Correspondence today. Pg. 4 Col. 4 Elk Lick Died, Feb. 29, Mr. Doe Pope, of near Sylvan Dell. Burial in Republican. Pg. 5 Col. 4 BIRTHS Born last Friday, to the wife of Mr. Edward Russell Hickman, a daughter. Mrs. Hickman was formerly Miss Annie Frank Boston. Pg. 6 Col. 1 Kelat Miss Nannie Asbury, of Wilmore, is visiting friends and relatives here. Sunrise John Beckett Jr, has moved to Ohio. Also Joseph Baker. They claim that land owners there give them a much better showing than they can get here. Born to the wife of Marion Arnold, a bouncing boy. This is their first and J. R. Arnold's first grand child. Died, on February the 2nd, Miss Annie May Whalen, a beautiful and intelligent young lady. She was in her sixteenth year and had the prospect of a long and happy life before her. But that dreaded disease consumption, laid its clutches upon her and she was forced to go. She was the daughter of Arch Whalen and the grand daughter of Squire Whalen, two of our best to do farmers in northern Harrison Co. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Samuel Foley, of Falmouth, and the remains were laid to rest in the beautiful little cemetery at Mt. Gilead by her sister who died two years ago. Pg. 6 Col. 3 Happy Ridge Rev. Hostetter visited Mr. Sandy last Monday. Miss Pearl Holland, of O'Possum Trot and her cousin Miss Mary Boggess were visiting their aunt Mrs. Charley Sandy near Claysville Monday. Dunaway Mrs. Sallie Dunaway died at the home of her father, Howk Cason, Feb. 28th of Consumption. Burial at the Dunn Burying ground near Stringtown.
