Our beautiful cemetery her is well kept by our worthy superintendent, Mr. Claud Ryles. Pg. 5 Col. 2 DEATHS Mrs. Sarah A. Ireland, mother of Mrs. S. B. Redd, of this county, died at Stafford, Kansas, March 1. The Stafford Courier contains the following notice of her death. "Mrs. Sarah A. Ireland, died at the home of her grand- daughter, Mrs. J. N. Rose. Mrs. Ireland was born in Bourbon Co. KY, Dec 22. 1825, her maiden name was Sarah A. Williams. At the age of 17 she was married to Thomas Ireland, whose death occurred thirty nine years ago. She came to Stafford, Kansas nine years ago and lived with her daughter, Mrs. Dr. Crouch. Most of the time since the death of her daughter she has been making her home with her grand children, in this city. She was the mother of four children, only two of whom survive her, they are J. M. Ireland, of Corinth, KY and Mrs. S. B. Redd, of Cynthiana, KY. She leaves 9 grand children and several great grand children. ... The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. W. Babcock, pastor of the Christian church, and Rev. G. W. Akers on Tuesday, March,3rd at 10 o'clock a.m. The remains were laid to rest in Stafford cemetery." Prof. J. R. Graves, who for years has been one of the state's leading educators, died in Lexington, Tuesday. He was a brother of Mrs. Georgia Hogg, and an uncle of Messrs. S. F. and F. G. Sparke and Mrs. F. G. Jenkins, of this city, who attended the funeral at Lexington yesterday. Samuel H. Roberts, aged 34 years, died of pneumonia at his home in Bellmont, Monday. He leaves a wife and two children. He was son of William Roberts and married Miss Lallie King, daughter of John King. Buried in Battle Grove. Charlie Maffett died Saturday, 4 March. For about nine years he had resided in Newport News, VA where he was clerk in the post office for eight years. He is survived by his mother, two sisters, Mrs. Paul Kimbrough and Mrs. Will Jones and two brothers, Harry and William Maffett. The funeral was conducted at the residence of his mother, Mrs. M. E. Maffett and he was interred at Battle Grove. Pg. 5 Col. 3 Boyd The death angel visited the home of Mr. & Mrs. W. S. Lawson and took from us our darling babe Willie, whom we loved so dearly. He was born Feb 24, 1908 and departed this life eight days later. His sister, Minnie, died 6 years ago. Pg. 6. Col. 2 Sadieville Mrs. Mary A. Threlkell, in her 90th year, died at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. Steven A. Gano on March 9. Mrs. Gano being the only surviving daughter. Her remains were interred in the family cemetery. Born to wife of Edwin Burgess, nee Green, a daughter. Pg. 6 Col. 3 Oddville Mr. Yancy Whiteker will return to Masillion, OH, after having been called to this place to attend the funeral of his brother, Holton Whiteker. Pg. 6 Col. 4 Sunrise Miss Annie Cummins school closed Friday. She gave an entertainment and many of those present were well pleased. Mr. J. H. Baker sold his tobacco to William Blackburn for 12½¢ per pound. It brought him over $350. He says he feels it his duty to the Equity not to raise tobacco this year if the society says so, as he fells that he received as much for his 1907 crop as he would have gotten for two crops if there had been no Equity. S. B. & Will Fowler spent last week with friends in Scott. They report a good time, but seemed to have had a scare when the night riders came in there. He says there is no use in a man bragging what great things he would do if they came to his house. He thinks they would do just like they did over there, run and hide. Uncle Lewis Williams, one of our aged and respected citizens died last Friday. His funeral was preached at Sunrise Saturday at 2 o'clock by Rev. Samuel Foley, of Falmouth. He was 82 years old. He lived near Sunrise all his life. He did not marry until he was on the old bachelor list. Then he married the Widow Beckett, by which union here were two children, Henry Williams, of Illinois and Mary Rodgers of Arkansas. He joined church 60 years ago at old Crows Chapel. Funeral of E. C. Kelley took place Sunday at Barlow. For 15 months he had been helpless and the greater part of the time had to sit in a chair. He had a complication of diseases, but the principal cause of death was dropsy. He was 72 years old. He was married three times and had 12 children, ten of whom survive him. He went through the entire Civil War on the Union side under Captain McCleod, 20th Kentucky Company I. Until he was 60 years old he drank a great deal and was considered a rough man when under the influence of whisky. Twelve years ago he was converted at the Barlow church and since has been a leader in prayer meeting and church. Pg. 6 Col. 5 Claysville Mrs. Gano Hamilton, of Lenoxburg, is visiting her parents Mr. & Mrs. G. W. Whitley.
