Mrs. Lebus was formerly Miss Flora Edwards of this place. Pg. 5 Col. 2 DEATHS Mrs. Anna E. Sparke, aged 77 years, died at her home at Lair, KY, Friday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock of general debility. Mrs. Sparke had suffered with paralysis for twenty four years. She is survived by three sons and two daughters - Orland T. Sparke, of Paris, Wm. Sparke and Horace Sparke, Mrs. Mattie Barr, Mrs. J. T. Wornall, all of Lair. Burial was in Lexington Cem. The infant twins of Mr. & Mrs. Luther Karrick, of Cincinnati, died at the family residence in that city Tuesday. The remains were brought to Cynthiana and were interred at Battle Grove Cem. Mr. & Mrs. Karrick formerly resided here, and Mrs. Karrick was formerly Miss Hester Brown. Daniel Snapp, aged 73, died in Nicholas county, April 26. Services by Rev. Corbin Snapp and burial at Barterville, Sunday. Yesterday's Winchester Sun-Sentinel had an extended article concerning the sad death of Cecil Dills aged 20, who has relatives in Cynthiana. Mr. Dills and Miss Fannie Sue Bush were driving along the river road at For, Sunday Afternoon and at a point where the road was covered with several inches of water, the horse became frightened and backed into the river. The young man succeeded in holding Miss Bush above water for several minutes but in so doing forced himself under the water. A man in a boat barely reached the coupe in time to save the girl but as he dragged her into the boat her exhausted companion sank to rise no more. The boy was retrieved with grappling hooks late in the afternoon. Messers Robert and John Dills, Mrs. John H. W. Spohn, Misses Sudie and Anna May Dills, of this city, went to Winchester to attend the funeral Wednesday. Miss Ella Shipp, cousin of H. C. Shipp, of this city, died at Oklahoma City, OK, on April 22, at the age of 35. The remains were buried at Paris, KY. Nicholasville papers have extended notices of the death of Mr. Chas. Hemphill, a prominent citizen of Jessamine county who died of heart disease on April 3rd, at the age of 78 years. He was a brother of Mrs. Laura Oxley and Miss Arkie Hemphill of this city. Pg. 5 Col. 4 Barefoot Died on the 26th, Miss Josie Ritchie, daughter of John Ritchie. She was 30 years old and a member of the Methodist church since she was 16. Burial was at Mt. Pleasant. Sunrise The remains of W. M. McGuire, of Falmouth, was brought to Sunrise on last Sunday for burial. He was about 75 years old. He was a soldier on the Union side in the war of the rebellion. Joseph Martin, of near Barlow, died Saturday and was laid to rest in the Barlow Cem. Sunday at 2 o'clock. Mr. Martin was 80 years old. Lived in that neighborhood all his life. He leaves behind his aged widow, one son, J. S. Martin who lived with him and one daughter, Mrs. Joseph Baker, of Texas. Pg. 6 Col. 4 Curry Born on the 19th, to the wife of Elmer Jones, of Covington, a daughter. Mrs. Jones was formerly Miss Ollie Harris of this vicinity. Latonia Dr. Herman Huffman and wife, of Oak Lawn, spent several days last week as the guest of Dr. L. D. Huffman on 4th Ave. Pg. 7 Col. 1 Connersville Born to the wife of Russell Beard, nee Craig, of Sadieville, a son. Pg. 7 Col. 2 Barterville Died on the 25th near Hickory Ridge, Dan Snapp, age 73 years. He leave a wife and several children to mourn his loss. Born on the 26th to the wife of Shell Feeback a girl. Hinton Born to the wife of Luther Sydnor a son. Born to the wife of Day Sharpe, a son. Born to the wife of William Burgess, a daughter.
