Professor of Greek and Latin shot himself on Saturday. Graduate of University of KY and Oxford University were he was a Rhodes scholar. Age 26. Henry Ingles, negro, was killed by a train on Sunday, north of Paris. Body shipped to Cynthiana for burial. LOG CABIN Fri. 15 Jan 1909 Vol. 14 No. 3 Pg. 8 Col. 3 DEATHS MATTIE DEE TODD Age 54, died at home on Pike street on Tuesday. Buried in Battle Grove. Daughter of Dr. George and Mrs. Ann Curry Todd. He mother was relative of the Brechenridge and Shelbys and died in this city several years ago. He father, Dr. George Todd, who was a brother of the wife of Abraham Lincoln, died in the south last year. Miss Mattie Todd was born and raised in Cynthiana. For sixteen years, beginnning under the administration of President Hayes, she served as postmaster at Cynthiana, she was being allowed to serve through the first administration of President Cleveland, through the influence of her cousin Robert Lincoln. INFANT LAIL Child of Mr. & Mrs. Grover Lail died Monday. CLAUD LINLEY Age 25, died of consumption in Cynthiana at the home of his mother, Mrs. Lucy Wiggins. He was son of Wm. Linley and married Miss Susan Williams, of Covington about five years ago. He is survived by wife and two children. Buried in Battle Grove Cem. MRS. AMANDA WHITAKER Nee Mire, born Dec. 1833, joined the M. E. Chruch Oddville under Rev. Cole. Married Dec. 1859 to Fleming Cummins, and to them four children were born. Three remain to mourn the loss. On 15 Nov. 1892 she married H. M. Whiteker. She died on 23 Dec. 1908. [Place of burial not given. dh] ANNA BELL McCLAIN Age 23, died in Cynthiana, yesterday. Daughter of Newt McClain and was living with her uncle, Charles James. Buried in Battle Grove. HENRY EALS Son of C. T. Eals, funeral was Sunday. Died in fire in Winchester last Thursday. Buried in Battle Grove. JAMES H. HALL Married Miss Eulaine Struve of Cynthiana, died of apoplexy at Maysville, Saturday, age 59. All the children are at home except Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Kennedy. Buried at Wagoners Chapel cem. on 7th.
