Mrs. Jack Hopkins, daughter of Dick Burden, died 14 Jul. 1909. Survived by husband, ten children, parents, two brothers and four sisters. Burial at Needmore church. His name was Harry Martin, and came from Pennsylvania. He was 60 years of age. LOG CABIN Fri. 23 Jul 1909 Vol. 14 No. 30 Pg. 5 Col. 3 DEATHS GEORGE FOOKES Died at the home of his son, Mat Fookes, on Sunday, supposedely of heart trouble. Age about 68, member of Methodist Church. He was married at age about 25. Father of nine children: Jim Fookes, Jacksonville; Nath Fookes, near Robinson; Edward Fookes, Bourbon; David Fookes, Leesburg; Luther Fookes, near Cynthiana; Mrs. Alice Wagoner, Kiserton; Miss Margaret Fookes, Kiserton; Miss Mary Fookes, Kiserton; Mrs. Lucy Rose, Edgewater. Buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery MISS ANNA H. CUMMINS Daughter of Jno. T. and Evaline Cummins died of goiter 14 Jul. 1909 at their home near Poindexter. Born 13 Jul. 1885 and was therefore 24 years and one day old. Funeral was conducted by Rev. Pike, at Benson church, July 16. Burial in Benson Cemetery She is sleeping beside her grandma of whom she made mention a few days before her death. She said "I saw dear grandma but you do not see her" and that she was going to a Beautiful Place in a few days. She played on the piano and sang some of her favorite songs, "Asleep in Jesus, Blessed Sleep", "Nearer My God to Thee", and "We'll Never Say Goodbye." She made request that these be sung at her funeral. She was a member of the M. E. Church, South, at Mt. Vernon, having joined in 1907 under Bro. Chatham. She made a confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and said that her heart was pure and white. She leaves father, mother, seven sisters and three brothers, and a goodly number of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. The family takes this occasion to express our most heartfelt thanks to all the neighbors and friends for their timely and kind assistance during her sickness and death. By Father. MISS CHIRISTINE WILLIS Daughter of late Henry Wilis, of this city, died of diabetes at the family residence on Main Street on Tuesday at the age of 18. Survived by mother and four sisters. He is survived by four children: Mrs. John Siffles, Mrs. Lewis Day, Press and Samuel Ritcheson. His sisters are: Mrs. Susan Hinkson and Mrs. Sallie Adams of Newport.
