Moore of the Post Office Department was here this week making preliminary arrangements for free delivery of mail within the city limits. . . . delivery will begin about the first of October or November. Ben Van Yeamen, the Persian, who is preparing for missionary Service to his native country, spoke morning and evening last Sunday at the Presbyterian church to full houses of interested listeners. “The Citizens Telephone Co.” of Boyd, KY, opened their exchange for service last Saturday. It is modern and up-to-date in every detail and giving service unsurpassed. It was installed by Mr. Hodder, an expert of the Bell Telephone Company, of Cincinnati, OH. The exchange begins its service with 85 subscribers and every prospect that it will have over one hunderd before the end of the month. It has direct connection with the Bell Telephone Company of Cincinnati with local rate of 30 cents per message to Cincinnati. It has also arranged to take Harrison Co. service at $3.00 per year, also Pendleton county at the same price. LOG CABIN Fri. 13 Aug 1909 Vol. 14 No. 33 Pg. 4 Col. 3 UMBRELLA MENDER, A MILLIONAIRE'S SON Henry Martin, as he gave his name, a traveling umbrella mender, was recently drowned in Stoner Creek near Paris. After his death it was discovered that his real name was Harry Hobbs, the son of John Hobbs, a retired millionaire residing in Dorchester, Mass. Martin or Hobbs was frequently in Georgetown, plying his trade of mending umbrellas. His field of work was chiefly in the towns of Central Kentucky. It is said that his roving disposition and wayward life was due to the disappointment of an early love affair when a college student in the East. - Georgetown Times. Survived by two sons: Ed. and John Blake of Centerville. J. T. OSBORNE Age 63, died at home near Centerville, Saturday. Buried at Old Union Cemetery. Survived by wife and one son. MRS. JOHN H. BLAKLEY Age 55, died at home of her husband near Oxford, last Friday. Survived by three sons and two daughters: W. D., A. J., W. O., Miss Ida Barkley adn Mrs. Herbert Zeysing. Buried in Georgetown Cemetery. THOMAS H. COLLIER Age 52, died at home near Headquarters on 5 Aug. 1909. Native of Nicholas Co. Survived by two daughters; Susie and Mabel Collier and three sons; Nat, Luke and William Collier. Also survived by three brothers: Hamp and Robert of Nicholas Co. and Nat of Bourbon.
