Lost of $1,000, no insurance. Believed to be arson, two sets of footprints seen and 2 persons found going to and from the building. Size 7 and 8 shoes. Resides 4 miles south of Tompkinsville. Republican Business meeting 23 Apr, 1 pm to elect delegates for the State Convention. W. S. Smith, Chariman. Genie BAILEY disappeared from his home last week on Bailey's Branch. Was spotted in Nashville TN recently on his way to IL. Had left his home last Wed telling his wife he was going to Hestand and would return soon. He did go there where he sold his horse for $80. He left Hestand on foot and was not seen again until spotted in Nashville. He's 20 yrs old, adopted, raised by Austin BAILEY. Had been married last May to Lydia TOOLEY, daughter of W J Tooley. No one understands why he left. About 8 years ago he had his skull crashed by a horse kicking him and some think this might be the cause. William KERR, age 79 "of extreme age" died at his home in Turkey Neck Bend 23? March. Born on Kettle Creek in 1825. Married in 1845 to Emily HALL. Raised a large family of children, 2 dying in infancy. Those that survive are Mrs Jasper CLANCY and Mrs William MARTIN of this place, Mrs. Reuben GEE of Otia, Mrs. Barton GEE of Black's Ferry, James KERR of Vernon and Thoma KERR of Alva IL. Interred in the JONES cemetery near his home. News from Nobob in Barren Co: W H GRAY & Cam HOWARD have been attending Cherry Bros Law School at Bowling Green were visiting relatives in Nobob. N B GILLAND went to IL last week planning on making his future there, came home. J T SHERFEY of Nobob selling fancy saddle, harness and horse for $160. P W MILLER of Mt Herman guest of S C GRAY Sunday. Mrs G W SCOTT and son Guy left Tuesday for OK where they'll make their home. John H SCOTT left last week for Louisville to accept position with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Miss May GENTRY of this place has LaGrippe. Mrs Joe COMER has the mumps. W J OLIVER and A P BELCHER of Temple Hill were here last week selling insurance. Nobob is now on a boom; we have two stores conducted by Messrs Joe COMER and T S HARRISON, both gentlemen are doing a thriving business. O B GENTRY will engage in the business in the near future, so this will make 3 stores, 2 blacksmithshops for Nobob.
