Thomas CHAPPELL was arrested one day last week by Deputy Sheriff WHITE, and was tried last Monday in Squire BEDFORD's court at Beech Grove in Turkey Neck Bend, fined one cent and the cost. Chappel had given White a good sound cursing for which White arrested him. Mrs. S D COUTS [sic] is placing her property along Main street under a nice wire fence. Rev Sam YOKELY filled his appointment at Alexander Saturday night and Sundy. Misses Laura SHORT and Allie ROARK, of Fountain Run, visited the familyh of J S CREEK Saturday night and Sunday. Herchel TAYLOR and sister Miss Chloe visited Mrs. S E ENGLAND Saturday night. Clements TAYLOR and his sister, Miss Verda, spent Saturday night with the family of L R TURNER. Johnie P JENKINS left Sunday morning for Ohio. On April the 5 the friends and relatives of Uncle Bart ENGLAND arrived at his home with well filled boxes and baskets to celebrate his 84 birthday. There were about 50 persons present. Uncle Bart has been in feeble health for quite awhile. Mrs Roma SHAW, of Akersville, spent last week at her fathers, Mr. Harlin ENGLAND. Miss Julia RICHARDSON, who has been visiting with her brother, Dr. Bob RICHARDSON, of Waterview, for the past two weeks returned home on the Str. Warren. A V WILLIAMS and wife were at Otia Tuesday. A B WILLIAMS who has been with his brother at Otia, has returned to Tompkinsville. Center Point News by Hoffman, Jr. J P McCOY, the noted weather prophet of this section, says he fears there will be too much rain for the good of the farmer. Several logs left this section on the last time, higest of the season so far. S D LOGAN left recently for Nashville in the interest of his logs. While in the city he will buy outfits for two distilleries which he, in partnership with John COE, will locate on Kettle Creek. They will also run a saw a grist mill. Miss Lucy MURPHY made a business trip to Salt Lick Bend recntly. J B CARY and W C WHITE has gone to Nashville on a raft. Elder F M FLATT, of Creelsboro, passed through this section recently enroute to the south. Walter GOFF, while working at an oil well in the Bend got his hand badly smashed. It is thought that amputation will be necessary. A ten barrel oil well was brought in on the Margaret RICHARDSON farm this week.
