According to reports of the incident, Coomer armed with a butcher knife attacked his wife and when Mr. Warner tried to quiet him, turned upon his father-in-law, who procured a shotgun and fired at close range, killing Coomer instantly. The dead man was said to have been a peaceful man except when drinking. Mr. Warner surrendered to Montgomery County officers. He was released under $2,500 bond and his examining trial set for September 24. Coomer's body was taken to Oakdale, Breathitt county, his former home, for burial.
