School District 17 was shown on the old maps at Beech Grove. 18 Apr 1889, J T BRIDGES shown as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. His writing was that of an older man and he failed to separate the males and the females. If I'm interpreting his handwriting correctly, he had 37 male students and 30 female students. Shown below is the parent or guardian's name followed by the names of the child(ren) and their age.

Additional Comments:
Many years ago, I accidentally stumbled on these records which had been left in the County Clerk's office instead of transferred to the Board of Education. Tho they are a little newer, they do fill in a lot of gaps between the 1880 and 1900 census records. I do not have them all, and I have no more information other than what is shown here. Shown is the school district #, number of male and female students, parent's name, child(ren)'s name, and age.
