LETTERS: Aaron to Ennis, 1879 & 1913 - Adair & Russell Cos I recently received a copy of a letter dated 1879, written by my GG-Grandfather (George Aaron) to a couple of my GG-Uncles (their last name was Ennis). I have a typed copy of the letter as well as a copy of the original letter. It has a lot of information about his large family. Two of his sons became doctors. There were no restrictions on it anywhere concerning its use. Do you think anyone would be interested in it? I could send you the copy and let you make the decision. Needless to say I was very thrilled to get the copy because I had no inkling the letter existed. The copies were sent from a gg-niece or gg-granddaughter of the Ennis' to a lady in OK who in turn mailed it to my niece in ID who then mailed it to me. Below is a copy of the typed transcription of the letter as I received it. I also have a copy of the original letter. ANTLE love, Will COPY NOTE: This letter copied 7/10/1991 by Clara (Ennis) George, from the original hand-written letter from George and Elisabeth Aaron, which is ll2 years old. The letter is in my possession. (signed by) Clara (Ennis) George I also received a typed copy of an original letter written by James K. P. Aaron and mailed sent to Mr. W. G. Ennis, on June 16, 1913. It is as follows: "This a copy of a letter written by James K. P. Aaron to Mr. W. G. Ennis, on June 16, 1913. Since it was in my grandfather's (Willis Lyons Ennis) papers, I believe it was mailed to him." Owensby, Ky. June 16, 1913 Dear Cousin, I was glad to get a letter from you my cousin am always glad to hear from my friends. What was you father's name, and how old are you? I was born Nov. 17th. 1844., so I am an old man, but have reasonable health for one of my age. I have one brother and one sister living. The rest have crossed over, and I am getting near the shore I think, but, I look forward to that better land where there will be no more parting, with joyful anticipation. Now the questions you asked: Our Grandfather's name was Zachariah. His brothers that I heard mother speak of were Jeremiah and Irakiah, (or Isakiah) His sister was Betsy Ennis. She never married, but had three children is all I know of. I don't know what his fathers name was, his mothers name was Anna Moles or Betsy Bolls, I think. One was his mother, the other his grandmother. I don't recolect all that mother told me, but my wife says she heard mother say that her ancestors left Ireland on account of bird killing, and I think I have heard the same but am not certain. As for the time they came and where they landed, I don't know, but mother I think was born in N.C. in Feb. 1813, and came here when she was a small child. I don't know anything about the age of her ancestors. I am willing to help you what I can but think that this is the best I can do. Your cousin, James K. P. Aaron P.S. (by Willis Lyons Ennis) "this man is dead has been for several years. There is none of Aunt Betty Aarons children living.) (NOTE: Stamped on outside of letter, front Jamestown, KY Jun 17,1913; On Back of letter, stamped Crittenden Ky. June 18, 1913.) (Original letter is with Clara Ennis George) I believe that the Aunt Betty referred to above must have been Elizabeth Ennis Aaron, wife of George Aaron. Bobbie Submitted by: Bobbie Callahan 11-22-1997
