Adams January 28 1858 - Simpson-Logan County KyArchives Biography Author: Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, DAVID C. ADAMS was born in Logan County, Ky., January 28, 1858, and is the sixth of thirteen children born to William H. And Margaret (Crawford) Adams, both of whom were natives of Robertson County, Tenn., and of English descent. The former was born March 5, 1818. William H. Adams received a good common school education in his native county, where he also married. Soon after his marriage he removed to Logan County, Ky., and bought a farm in what is now known as the Cut-off in Simpson County, where he remained until the spring of 1880. He then sold out and removed to Warren County Ky. Here he bought a farm near Woodburn, upon which he resided and was engaged in agricultural pursuits until his death, March 29, 1883. He served ford a short term in one of the Kentucky regiments (Confederate service) during the late civil war, being a captain of a company of cadets. For some eight years before the war he served as constable in Robertson County, Tenn. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church and also of the Masonic fraternity and of the I.O.O.F. His father, Charles H. Adams, was a native of Virginia, where he was married; but soon after his marriage he removed to Robertson County, Tenn., and was among the early pioneers. Mrs. Margaret Adams is yet living, and resides in Warren County, Ky. She also is a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. Her father, Henry Crawford, was a native of Virginia and one of the pioneers of Robertson County, Tenn. He was for many years an itinerant Methodist preacher, as were also five of his seven sons. David C. Adams received a good common school and academic education and was employed on the old homestead until he attained his majority. In company with his brother, Charles H., he then engaged in general merchandising at Dennis, Logan Co., Ky., for nearly a year. He then returned to the home farm in Warren County, and engaged in farming until December, 1883, when he removed to the northern part of Simpson County, Ky., where he has since been engaged in agricultural pursuits. He married, December 25, 1883, Ola C. Reed, a native of Simpson County, Ky.; she was born April 20, 1865 and is a daughter of John W. and Inda (Grainger) Reed, both natives of Simpson County, KY., and of English descent. Mr. Adams and wife are members of the Missionary Baptist Church. In politics he is a Democrat.
