ALLEN, 76, DIED SUDDENLY AT HOME HERE Mrs. Delia Allen, passed away suddenly at her home here Friday, May 28. She was visiting at Custer when she became ill, having gone there to make preparations at the Custer Cemetery for Memorial Day. Shortly after her arrival home, she died. Mrs. Allen was a devout member of the Irvington Baptist church and took an interest in civic affairs. She was born September 21, 1872 and was married January 1, 1891 to Uncas Allen who died several years ago. Mrs. Allen was the mother of 11 children, two died in infancy and Ovander Allen died at sea 15 years ago. Surviving children are: Mrs. Fronia Sharp, Louisville; Mrs. Lonia Ramsey, Custer; Mrs. Etta Tanner, Irvington; Owen Allen, Louisville; Chester Allen, Texas; Mrs. Tisha LeGrand, Louisville; Mrs. Romoa Hays, Irvington; V. G. Allen, California, all of whom were present for the funeral. She is also survived by the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. John Sharp and Mrs. T. H. Bennett, of Big Spring, Ed Oliver, of Texas and Jesse Oliver, of Corydon, Ind. Funeral arrangements were carried out, as Mrs. Allen had planned, as near as possible. Rev. K. R. Black, of Hawesville, conducted the service at the home Monday afternoon, May 31. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers included, W. R. Parks, R. L. Frymire, J. D. Lyddan, Beckham Powell, Leo Ashby and Geo. M. Wilson.
