Joseph Anderson was born the 8 of May 1791 in Rockbridge County, Virginia. His family lived near 
the Natural Bridge in Rockbridge County, Virignia.  He recalled "throwing many a stone over the 
Natural Bridge". When he was about nine years old, his parents Thomas and Rebecca Anderson, moved 
from Virginia and settled in Boone County, Kentucky.  There he met and married Martha Patsey Dunlap 
Henderson on the 18 February 1814.  Joseph Henderson provided the bond for Patsey Henderson for 
the marriage.  Joseph and Patsey lived in Boone County and Grant County, Kentucky before moving 
to Indiana and later to Clay County, Illinois.  This photograph was probably taken between 1860 
to 1879 in Clay County, Illinois.  At the first Anderson Reunion which was to be held at the Charlie 
Brown Park in Flora, Illinois in 1910, family members gathered photographs and compiled the Anderson 
Family history.  This picture was included in the Anderson Reunion notes.  This is a copy of the 
original photograph.  The owner of the original photograph is not known at this time.
