He was born in Phillip’s Fork on February 20, 1925 the son of the late Alec and Alice Brummett Asher. He was a Pentecostal and had been a truck owner and operator. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Foister, Wilk and Harvey Asher and sister, Haley Asher. Survivors include his wife, Lora Smith Asher of Arjay, children, Vogal and Rebecca Asher of Crittenden, KY, Malcolm and Sharon Asher of Calvin, Rev. Herman and Twila Asher of Manchester, Brenda and Junior Collett of Manchester, Richard and Sharon Asher of Pineville, Wanda and Carson Jackson of Manchester, Sharon and Darrell Whitehead of Essie, KY, Carol and Bill Buckles of London, Tony Asher of Arjay, Serena and Rev. Tony Caldwell of Pineville, Sandra Asher of Caryville, TN, Karen and Jerry Napier of Arjay and Teresa and John Robbins of Pienville, brothers, Earl Asher of Tanyard Hill, Douglas and Ethel Asher of Whitesburg, Stanley and Sheila Asher of Arjay, Roscoe and Arlene Asher of Arjay, David and Donnie Asher of Pineville, Paul and Carolyn Asher of Pineville, Cecil and Roberta Asher of Arjay, sisters, Rosie and Tom Davis of Kettle Island, Hazel and Bill Taylor of Arjay and Edna and Leroy Geurra of Louisianna; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Hoskins and Rev. Homer Cox. Music will be by Friends. Burial will be in the Ketty’s Creek Cemetery at Roark. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Aeron Asher, Allen Asher, Travis Asher, Daniel Asher, Anthony Caldwell, John Houston Robbins, Marty Jackson and Chuck Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Stubblefield, David Saylor and Glen Gambrel. The family will receive friends after 6 PM Thursday and after 9 AM Friday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville.
