Subject: Ashley.Lucretia.1906.Bath.OBIT Lucretia Ashley 1906 Bath County KyArchives Obituaries Indiana Historical Society Microfilm Reel no. 291007, Jamestown, Ind, Jamestown Pres, Friday, January 4, 1907 page 1 Lucretia ASHLEY Aunt Lucretia Ashley died in the hospital for the feeble minded, located southeast of Jamestown, Monday, after an illness of two weeks, Mrs. Ashley’s maiden name was CASSITY, and she was born in Bath County, KY., Oct. 28, 1830. In June, 1856 she was married to Andrew J. ASHLEY, who gave his life for the defense of this country, March 1, 1861 and was buried at Danville, Ky. To them were born four boys of whom W.H., R.T. and J.C. ASHLEY survive her. J.T. ASHLEY died in may 1903. When a girl Mrs. ASHLEY united with the Christian church on her father’s farm in Kentucky, and on coming to Indiana with her husband in 1858 united with the church at Jamestown and continued a member til she moved to Lebanon when she transferred her membership to the Christian church at that place. At the time of her death she was 76 years, 2 months and 3 days old. The remains were brought to Jamestown Tuesday morning and removed to the home of Lula ASHLEY, east of town. Funeral services were held at the Christian church: Wednesday at 11 o’clock conducted by Rev. A.L.CRIM. Burial at I.O.O.F. cemetery.
