He was born in Clear Creek on June 24, 1927, a son of the late Robert and Emma Hoskins Baker. He had been a custodian at the Bell County Schools for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Charles Baker; brothers and sisters, Marie Phipps Smith, Mossie Mason, Frank Earl, Charlie Ray, Clyde, Hubert, Solomon, Elisha and Shelby Baker. Survivors include his children, Jane Baker of Pineville, Joan Jones of Harrogate, Priscilla and Jody Martin of Pineville, Bruce and Carolyn Baker of Clio, AL, Robert anbd Sheena Baker of Cumberland Gap, TN; Ronnie and Vicky Baker of Middlesboro and Roger and Charlene Baker of Pineville; fifteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brother Harold Baker, sisters, Ethel Phipps and Betty Gibson and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were Friday, January 31 at Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Ellis Hugh Hoskins and Rev. Richard Barnett. Music was by the Church Choir. Burial will be in the Smith Cemetery at Clear Creek. Pallbearers were Jocy Martin, Greg Smith, Chris Baker, and David Campbell. Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville, was honored to serve the Baker Family.
