October 23rd (Special) (Hancock County) Will BEARD, a young white man, was found dead by the side of the railroad tracks near Falcon Station, and about 5 miles above the city (Lewisport) last Saturday morning (October 21, 1899). His skull was crushed and both legs were broken. A jug of wine was found near the body, and it is thought that while intoxicated, he fell asleep on the track, and was struck by a train sometime during the night. Mr. BEARD is said to have been an industrious young man, and save for an occasional spree, bore a good reputation. I have no idea if this is the Will Beard who died on October 21, 1899. I found this information in the Breckinridge County Cemeteries, volume one, published in 1991.
