Deed Bk C, p 17, 18 PERKINS; BIRNEY; HELM; LETCHER This Indenture made this 25th day of May one thousand eight hundred and four between Stephen PERKINS and Betsey his wife of the County of Garrard and State of Kentucky of the one part and James BIRNEY of the County of Mercer and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Stephen PERKINS and Betsey his wife for and in consideration of the sum five hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said James BIRNEY the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge Have granted Bargained and sold and by these presents, do grant bargain, and sell unto the said James BIRNEY a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Hardin on Sandy Creek a branch Nole Lynn, running on the south side about ten or twelve miles before the mouth of Valley Creek, and bounded as follows (to wit) Begining where the water sinks the first time, at a black oak and white oak, thence N 90 poles to a Stake in the barrens, thence S 85 E 200 poles to a stake in the Barrens, crossing Sandy Creek, thence N 85 W 200 poles to a stake in the Barrens on the South Side of the Creek, thence N110 poles to the begining containing two hundred and fifty acres together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any way appertaining. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land and all and singular other the premises hereby granted bargained, and sold unto the said James BIRNEY his Heirs and assigns forever. And the said Stephen PERKINS and Betsey his wife do and will against themselves their heirs and assigns and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever having any claim or title to the said land _____ and defend the same unto the said James BIRNEY his heirs and assigns forever.
