Boles 1902 Barren County KyArchives Obituaries Unknown Glasgow, KY Newspaper "THE DEATH OF MR. S. H. BOLES, SUNDAY. Mr. S. H. Boles, known to his intimates as "Judge" Boles, died at the Maplewood Infirmary here last Saturday morning at 1:30 o'clock; death followed a serious surgical operation for an aggravated stomach trouble, and little hope was entertained for him at the outset. "Mr. Boles was in his forty-third year and a son of the late Mr. Chas. Boles, and a grandson of the late S. H. Boles, on the county's best known men of his day and generation. "Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Eliza Boles, and two brothers, Messrs. Chas. Boles, of Washington, D. C. and Fielding Boles of this place, and his wife (before her marriage Miss Nora Kerley) and seven children -- five boys and two girls, all of whom were at the bedside when death came. "Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. Fielding Boles, here, Sunday afternoon, and was preached by Rev Duncan, after which interment was in the Glasgow cemetery. "Mr. Boles was one of the best-liked and best-known men in Barren County, and the great crowd attending his funeral, from all parts of the country, attested to the esteem in which he was held. "He was a loving and considerate husband; a true friend; a good christian character - a member of the Baptist church and a man whose character was above reproach. "Mr. Boles had many admirers because of his sturdy and clean nature; and all of them are sorry, to-day, because of the passing of a friend."
